The glitter has left the city and all the hype by media and alike have retired to the bedrooms. And we, at Blu Jaz, are still here with the spirit to serve and entertain.
MONDAY

Kicking off the week, is Origins – a mixture of blue grass, New Orleans and all that jazz – this is a 5 pc band whose dedication to music is apparent. And in case you’re wondering, yes, they are talented as well! 9pm @ Cafe

And for a different sort of sound, Music Lab presents graduating musicians of alternative and rock genre – catch their students do their thang @ Space (8pm onwards)

WEDNESDAY

More dedicated and taletnted musicians, but under the tutelage of Greg Lyons, we see Grooveworks, trigger the groovy side of us. 9pm@Cafe

And if you’re looking for some island feel in our cosmopolitan city, head on up to Blu Jaz Lounge where DJ Divine spinsa mean mix of Reggae. 9pm onwards

THURSDAY

It’s Magic Swing Fling – an evening of Lindy Hopping and Illusions. Join Jitterbugs Swingapore for a complimentary class at 7:30pm @ Cafe or be entertained by Danny, our Illusioinist from 8pm onwars

FRIDAY

And for original compositions and jazz classics by maestros, catch Greg Lyon’s Quartet @ Cafe from 9:30pm onwares.

It’s the first Friday of the month and Good Times is back at Blu Jaz to bring you some great tunes and yes, we clear the area for you to bust your signature moves. 9:30pm onwares @ Lounge

World Music returns with Muhd Noor and Shaw Letts. With these 2 versatile musicians, expect anything from Paul Simon to Tequlia! 9:30pm onwards @ Space

Ayaschool is on with the lovely Jo Dong on Vox, Casey Sub. on Bass and Mohd Noor on percussions. An enchanting night? A crazy night? Who knows with Aya but I promise, it’d be a great night. 9:30pm @ Cafe

Jammin’ is back with DJ Nomsta for more reggae dance tracks, so bring out your rasta and your peace shirts for we going to bring a little Jamaica to you. 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge

Many Feelings features some of the more indie groups and their eclectic mix of music. DJs Ko Flow and Garuda add on to this wicked night. 8pm onwards @ Space – entry – complimentary. Bring smiles and applause.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri! We hope that you found yourselves a nice quiet time to relax, meditate as we did the same! Today we open to sunshine after a few days of ‘mist’ and rain! Come celebrate life with us…. so this week:

WEDNESDAY

Join Groovework for another groovy jazz set – apologies for the corn but the mood IS upbeat. They’ve got the cool sets and the hot notes for your listening ear and this is happening from 9pm onwards @ Cafe

DJ Divine is IN DA HOUSE - a night of Reggae – it’s Jamaican groove @ Lounge from 9pm onwards (every wed – if you must know, except when we say so – and it isn’t so this wed)

THURSDAY

Magic Swing Fling it is – ahoy to all lovely laddies and ladies – the beat is on, the period – Charleston, the attire – dancing shoes are a must as long as with dancing spirits! Jitterbugs Swingapore presents a complimentary class at 7:30pm onwards@Cafe for those who are curious or simply, need a refresher – Look for SING at the sound console. And if you’re taking a breather from all that jazz, look out for Danny, roving to delight you with some fantastical magic.

HooHaa – it’s Pocket Sessions to bring us from September to October and Willy Garthright helms with his funky bass and friends to bring about a spot-on funk and jazz session. 9:30pm @ Cafe

And our long standing and beloved Pushin’ On might just bring the roof down with more funk, soul and R&B - given the superb track choices and the faultless mixes. 9pm onwards @ Lounge

Without fanfare, and airs, our humble and outstanding duo is back to woo us with World Music – featuring Muhd Noor and Shawn Letts (sorry for the last minute replacement last week but this week – they be back!) 9:30pm onwards @ Space

The whole gang is down with AYASCHOOL - featuring Fendi on Vox, Azman on Bass, Tama on the bang bang percussions and of course Aya on KEYS - it’s always happening with this crew! 9:30pm @ Cafe

And new to our establishment, it gives us great pleasure to welcome DJ Andrew McKay, all the way from Australia – at least at some point, to give us some jazz, some soul, some latin and some house. 9:30pm @ Lounge

WEDNESDAY – 16th September all those of you in Singapore have a chance to check out what Groove Works is really all about! Both groups that have just finished a 12-week session of the jazz performance workshop will be performing downstairs at the wonderful Blu Jaz Cafe from 9pm. Should be a fantatical performance, yo.

DJ Divine charms us all with his usual Reggae slot @ Lounge from 9pm onwards.

No, it has not been a short week @ Blu Jaz but rather a lack of wireless access. If you’ve missed the fantastic Omniform, Grooveworks AND reggae night, you should MOST defintiely check out some Magic Fling tonight.
Swing Fling, co-hosted, by Jitterbugs Swingapore sees lindy hoppers of all levels strutting and trying out some social (and stunt) moves tonight. Complimentary class from 7:30pm onwards @ Cafe and music thereafter till 11pm! And if being a voyeur is your cup of tea, watch out for Danny, our Illusionist, who will take card tricks to a new level. 8pm onwards – all around.

FRIDAY

Fuse Collective doesn’t just rock out @ Cafe this friday but instead, woo us with some funk and soul. Muhd Noor leads with out of the world percussion. 9:30pm onwards
