For our aural pleasure, we are slowly but surely, revamping our sound system to give better quality output. Be prepared for our talented DJs to spin out some crazy House, deep jungle Drum N Bass and some funky soul….. or any other forms of electronica they deemed as music to our ears.

Today – Shirlyn from the UnXpected is throwing an acoustic party to raise funds for her trip towards enlightenment. Cover is SGD 15 NETT (and anything else you would like to contribute to her attaining teacher status in Bikram Yoga). Musicians joining her are Joan on keyboard and Asri on bass. Special fun auction items – Bikram Yoga Weekly Passes, A Date(!), Belly Dance lesson……From 9pm @ Space (3rd Flr)

THE GREG LYONS QUARTET continues it’s residency at Blu Jaz Cafe which features Casey Subramaniam on bass, Mei Sheum on organ and Darren Moore on drums. 9.30pm til 1am @ Cafe (1st Flr)

Pushin'OnYour monthly fix of funk, soul and hip-hop rolls by just in time. The dynamic Lion City Orchestra kicks off the night with 90 mins of hard funk and super soul. Last month, you heard their first single, the foot-stomper ‘You Ain’t Ready’. Come Friday,  you will get to hear their second single ‘Until You Say Yes’, an uplifting soul clap number. This is ‘live’ funk and soul in Singapore, only at Pushin’On.

And you will also get to dance all night with DJ Shellsuit, DJ Chunk and DJ Rolec. 2009 has been a wonderful year for funk re-issues and these boys have some tasty ones to unleash. Now put your hands up if you’re funky to the core.

We’ll also have exciting news to announce on the night. News that would mean you’ll get to enjoy the Pushin’On sound more than once a month.

It’s never easy to get on back to the rhythm of nose on grind, so to speak, especially not after a long weekend. So we invite you to ease into the work week with a relaxed session or serveral sessions of good tasting cocktails and beer – al fresco @ Cafe. If alcohol doesn’t suit palatte, our lime smoothie is known to put the zing back into that sedentary life of yours.

17th April

Greg Lyon’s Quartet continues to provide us with excellent sounds for the night from 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe

While Dustpan Recordings pumps it up on the 2nd Floor with their signature House music from 9pm onwards @ Lounge.

Craving for a different sort of night? Our resident belly dancer, Angelina, carries on some exotic hip shakin’ action to both Middle Eastern classics and present day pop songs for that little extra oomph on a Friday night. 9pm @ Space.

Ayaschool is bringing some cool sexy into the jazz with Maya Nova on VOX, Willy Garthright on bass and Mod Noor on drums. The band to be on a Saturday night for a start of a chilled evening and join us later to move those rumps…. set starts at 9:30pm @ Cafe

The oracle shall answer the question on everyone’s mind. The answer is YES. We are open this Friday with our resident band: The Greg Lyon’s Quartet.

We start the week off with our nocturnal 10 pc in its natural habitat, shaking the timbers and rattling the windows @ Cafe. They start from 9pm and will be bringing in groovy sounds for 2 sets

The band will be Andrew Lim on guitar, Casey Subramaniam on bass, Chris Oldman on drums, Anabel Chew on flute, Fabian Lim on alto sax, Tim O’Dwyer on baritone sax, Greg Lyons on tenor/soprano sax, Fredi Sonderegger on bass trombone, Leo Jeoh on tenor trombone and Dan Wong on trumpet and flugelhorn.

Lila Drums bring bits of Africa to us via a smashin’ Djembe session @ Cafe on the 9th April (thurs) night from 8pm – for those who would like to start off with an alternative week to this wonderful long weekend

Greg Lyon’s quartet woos us on Friday (10th April) with more smooth grooves with Greg on sax, Mei Sheum on organ, Casey Subramaniam on bass and Chris Oldman on drums. Sets start at 9:30pm @ Cafe

Mario Lopez and friends are bringing some latin jazz sounds to our cafe this Saturday (11th April) from 9:30pm. Join them for some wicked melodies and thumpin rhythms. Cafe.

Vocalise Artistes Management is giving us a night of music with a twist – featuring in house talents from their pop, rock and dance classes – these musicians will be  incorporating accoustic string instruments with rock music, creating some uptempo sonds. 9pm @ Lounge (2nd Flr) on Saturday

44 Beatz April44 Beatz returns for their monthly sounds – April’s Soundscapes is a all about deep, funky, jazzy (obviously) tech house. They’ll take you on a journey through the rhythm’s of detroit, paris and london on a soulful and jazzy blend of works classic and recent. Joining Clark on the decks (and I can’t wait for this) is Raeburn J. Renowned for his deep, soulful funky and indeed Jazzy (theres that word again) sets. Its going to be one ‘goovy salad!’ (his words not mine). Time once again to bob your head and loose yourself to the beats.  See you on the dancefloor

Greg Lyon’s Quartet helps close your week with some cool jazz and hot tempos for some soul liftin’. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe.

9pm onwards @ Lounge – DJ Garuda, DJ Ritz, DJ Syafii and DJ Nad-trix walk the line up this Friday to the 2nd Floor under the Good Times Label.

“Good Times” is a unique event produced by BEDSTY MUSIC, where everybody is invited to let their guard down, shimmy on to good old school tunes, funky breaks, and boogie into the night as we up the tempo and beat.

“Good Times” is all for a night out with your best mates, filled with zany incidents and crazy antics. We invite you to rock up to a night where you are the master of the dance floor. We’ll clear a space for you to bust your signature moves. The night will feature a progressive mix of old school hiphop, breaks, electro, minimal, house, dubstep, dnb and jungle provided by your favorite DJs..

While we are chillin’ throughout the week, we promise that the party vibes are turned to the max over the weekend.

27th March – Fri

Greg Lyon’s Quartet our resident band whips up a wicked mix for us this Friday. Darren Moore on drums, Casey Subramaniam on bass, Mel Sheum on organ (!) and, naturally, Greg Lyon on sax. Those shoes will not stop from a-tappin’ so shake off the week’s work blues and join us for a jumpin’ night out. Starts from 9:30pm @ Cafe.

pushin' on13 Strong – The Pushin’On monthly rolls by with some massive guests. The Lion City Orchestra, who debuted last month with a new line-up, returns with 90 mins of rare covers and their new single, “You Ain’t Ready”. This is “live” funk and soul in Singapore, only at Pushin’On.

On the decks, residents Shellsuit and Chunk will hold it down. And we’ve invited a man who was one of the first to bring funk and soul to Singapore dancefloors. DJ NDC returns for one night only. Its hard to lock this man down, but if you keep on dancing, he’ll keep on pushin’.

This is the real thing: Expression, Improvisation, Sophistication and gut-level, finger-popping, in-the-pocket GROOVE!

Singapore’s only regular funk night is heating up with an act that last appeared in Nov’ 08. This month, the Pushin’On crew proudly presents the return of the Lion City Orchestra with a new and bigger line-up. The LCO will play 90 minutes of furious funk and gritty soul, never before heard “live” in Singapore.  And that’s just for starters.
Then you take over the floor with music from DJ Shellsuit, DJ Chunk and special guest DJ Funk B**tard. They’ve found dancefloor heaters from year-end digging around the world, and want to play it to you first. Just show your love by dancing.

Good Times start the ball rollin on the 6th march with their B-Boy, hip hop sounds @ Lounge.

We introduce a new DJ from Petstov Recordings @ Space on the 7th march. All the way from Spain, DJ Franco not only mixes but produces his own sounds, drawing inspiration from nature – his way is the path of a minimalist.

And on the 14th March, 44Beatz return with their eclectic mix of dance music @ Space, bringing you an intimate party either to chill or rev up.

Dustpan Recordings carry on with a 2nd showing on the 20th March with one of the best mixes of House @ Lounge

Pushin’ On closes the month of March on the 27th with funk, soul and their magic @ Lounge.
