25th April – 30th April

April 26, 2011

It’s a little hard to remain apathetic when the air is filled with a certain sort of buzz and the general elections, this year, seem to evoke more ambivalent sentiments than before….. at least that is what the coffee shop uncle says…. be it the polls or an epiphany on your rest of your life, we offer you space for that philosophical discussion among friends.

But if you’re hankering for a little music – we start mid week (WEDNESDAY) with Matrix Jam @ Lounge – bring your instruments down and I guess the only rule is keep up with the rest of the musicians – and yes, your vocals IS your instrument too… look for George from 8:30pm onwards

From notes to words – we bring you POETRY SLAM @ SPACE on THURSDAY - join our budding and aspiring poets – from solemn to quirky, from passionate to the darker realm, speak. We give you the stage. From 8pm onwards

And then it’s the weekend – we bring you some great blues from FunkyMunkees on FRIDAY - the young band with experienced sounds – close your eyes and dream of trip along the Mississippi – Tom Sawyer-like. 9:30pm @ Cafe. But if it’s a party you’re craving for, Pushin’On is going to bring it – featuring Brandon P, Masterpiece and the Mighty Mighty – right along with resident DJs Shellsuit, Chunk, Dave Code and Gonzo covering dance music in funk, soul, hip-hop, disco, boogie, swing, jazz, latin, reggae, rockabilly and afrobeat. 9:30pm @ Lounge.

On SATURDAY, we bring you some cool sounds with IRESON - a trio who boasts some of the best latin-jazz mixes you’ll get to hear around town. 9:30pm @ Cafe. The party continues with 44 Beatz @ Lounge from 9:30pm onwards with some great Techhouse and Electro – it’s Soundscapes with great sounds and the catalyst to your dancing from night till dawn.

And we’ll give a shout out for our sister at PIEDRA NEGRA with Passion(sensation – also residing temporary on the 2nd flr of Piedra on Saturday. And TRANCE is the main course on the menu that night.

WOOT! Let’s boogie!
Peace. Yo.

Cinco de Mayo is the day when the Mexicans managed to kick the Frenchs’ A55 out of Puebla in 1862 and they be celebrating this annually…. just don’t get it mixed up with Mexico’s Independence Day… It’s also the day of celebration of our dear Benjamin and we’re be doing a French vs Mexican battle – F&B style..

Come on down on the 5th May to order our special French and Spanish food menu. We are keeping scores and will do it up till the 6th May where we celebrate PEACE… with a whole bunch of goodies! LIVE BANDS both nights + Special Jam session organized by Rupak Shakur… DJs Gonzo and Shellsuit will be playing hot and sizzling Latin music (Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cuban, Mambo, Mariachi, Cha Cha, Rumba, Cumbia, Reggaeton) as well as jumping and jiving oldies tunes (Jazz, Swing, Soul, Funk, Rn’B, Boogie)” from 9pm to 3am on the Friday 6th May.

How to play? The french get points for every Wine, Patis and French dish you order. The Mexcians get points for every beer, tequila shot and Mexican dish you order…. we’ll tally it all up on Friday. SO COME ON DOWN Thursday to play and Friday to celebrate!

Peace!

18th April – 22nd April

April 18, 2011

It’s a rainy Monday morning and all we want to do is curl back into bed and hit the snooze a couple more times. A couple of million more times. Alas, it is not meant to be but the perks of living in a city is the great taste of coffee just round the corner! We welcome you to hang out with us to chase away them Monday’s blues….

On THURSDAY we are calling all hand drummers and percussionists out there to jam with LILA DRUMS @ SPACE from 9pm onwards!  Look forward to the Free Jam, Beginners Jam, and Performance Jam at Blu Jaz SPACE! Players, bring your djembe or any percussion instruments you want to jam with – don’t leave them home alone! Come experience a melting pot of drumming passion!

It’s the cool and sexy FLOODS and gang bringing their hot, jazzy sounds to Blu Jaz Cafe this FRIDAY. From 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe, join us for great sounds – with maybe just a tad bit of tribal fused into it. And if you’re feeling thoroughly electronic – head on up to LOUNGE from 9pm onwards for INDOLAND - a twist (and maybe a skip and a hop, too) to electronic beats.

Fuze Collective takes the stage on SATURDAY and it’s Fendi soothing, intoxicating voice that draws us ever closer to some great sexy, sultry moves. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe – it’s a date for some body grooving.

Peace Out, yo.

SGD 10 entry. 8pm @ Space on WEDNESDAY!

FRIDAY comes around before you know it and it’s Noor and gang @ Cafe from 9:30pm onwards, wooing you with nothing more or less than great music and passion.
