While we cruise, mellow-like, into the new week, we turn up the energy notch by just a tad. It’s Matrix Jam this WEDNESDAY, peeps! This means that musicians meet for a jamming session that will satisfy both audience and musicians alike – bring yr instrument of choice. 8pm onwards @ Lounge. If cerebral is the word of the day, we invite you up to SPACE from 7:30pm with Blink Bl_nk – a monthly event @ Blu Jaz. And to celebrate this week, we have another 3 great speakers, tunes from Syaheed, yummy drinks and good food! So, bring your carrots, your love poems, and your mingling shoes, and come on down to Blu Jaz for another evening of lighthearted mind enhancement and holiday good cheer.

Amnesia plays on THURSDAY @ Space from 8pm onwards, so it’s a great to check out some band covers and originals.

And we’re back to FRIDAY!!!! We do a switch-a-round with Ayaschool coming in on Fri night. She rules the night (and maybe the world) with her indomitable spirit and talented playing. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. Need some digital – we’ve got SUBSTANCE going on at Lounge with a touch of rhythm and a dash of bass. 9:30pm onwards.

And just round the corner @ PIEDRA NEGRA - it’s EIGHT - DJs coming together to give you some stupendous, astounding, phenomenal sounds… it’s Tech and so much more. SGD 10 entry to both floors will get you a drink along with the cool funk…. 8pm onwards

Let the warm, sensuous voice of Anne Weerapass seduce you to the Sunday morning. A night of hot jazz to accompany your one self or your friends, drop by and catch the 1st set at 9:30pm @ Cafe. RaveHaus is the name of the game for both LOUNGE and SPACE on Saturday where your ears are wooed with live rock bands and minimal electronic sounds to progressive tracks. 9pm onwards.

yo yo YO! it’s a busy busy start after our long awaited break… if you have missed the awesomeness of Ominform last night – fear not, they be back every FIRST MONDAY of the month – and you betcha that their skillfully weaved harmonics making music kick-a$$.

And tonight – we have BLUT @ SPACE - so drop by and get a whiff of some talented budding musicians. 8:30pm onwards.

WEDNESDAY will bring out the comedian in us – so we hope. An open-mic night hosted by Jonathan Atheron – it’s a night of shameless exhibition and hopefully wit. SGD 10 for the entry and we recommend you coming early. We have a comedian for every civilian….. 8pm onwards @ SPACE

THURSDAY sees new blood @ LOUNGE with some Deep House. A veteran to the turntables, Simon is better known for out of the world trance sets and will woo us with some bassy sexy beats.  He is the engagement planner  by day, DJ by night. Lover of street food and social serendipity – 9pm onwards.

FRIDAY is a night of promises and delightful anticipation – and after you get your fill of ” M.I.G” feat. Casey(bs/vo), Leo Mendoza(sax), Bashir(keys) and Mhd Noor on drums, we guarantee – you be satisfied. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. If you need the sounds of a different tropical island – we throwing a reggae party @ Lounge. 3DJs, 2 Live Bands – we will rock out. 9:30pm onwards

SATURDAY is one of our hottest night with AYASCHOOL at helm for the night’s entertainment. Long time no see stranger – Floods – is back on drums! Anne Weerapaas on vox and Bani on bass. Nuff said. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. We have the good people of Dance N Music Studio giving us some original mixes. Their music revels stray to alternative paths and will never bore. Minimal, Tech House, Progressive House will challenge and move – they make that promise. 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge.

It’s going to be a crazzzyyy weekend over @ Blu Jaz we are starting early with Poetry Slam Night on THURSDAY @ Space. From 8pm onwards, if the written word wants to take a leap to bring about some passion aural, come by and take on the mic.

We be inviting some guests back – Tropic Green, a 7 pc band, playing on the originals written by local artiste – Susan Harmer, is bound to give new sounds and vibessss. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe on FRIDAY. And Pushin’On takes its usual Friday slot but this time, spanning LOUNGE AND SPACE. The word on the street that it’s badass and you’all need to be ready to move it,  cos they be mixing hip hop, funk, soul, disco and all sorts of boogie for you. 9pm onwards.

Ayaschool returns this SATURDAY with some hot hot guests – Dawn Ho on vox, Casey on Bass and Eddy on Drums – you know – it’s going to be sultry, sensual – leaving some chills down the spine that ain’t got nuttin’ to do with them ghosts – just a haunting voice. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. And it’s 44 Beatz returning with Soundscape @ Lounge from 9pm onwards. With DJs RTYPE, DAN BUCKLEY & CLARK, it’s gonna be a night of Dub-step, electro and tech. We are also pleased to host the 1st Reunion of Passion – the group mashes and dispenses a fluid night of a party. From mellow trance to heart pounding house, vice versa and in between, Passion brings the beautiful and discerning friends of the dance floor on a night out of an immersive party. 9pm onwards @ Space

Get ready for the midweek laughs as Jonathan Atheron hosts Stand Up Singapore – our first Wednesdays of the month, encourages aspiring comedians to trudge up to Space and try their hand at impressing our audience. So if you’re feeling in the mood for an open mic night – come on up. Entry from 8pm and at SGD 10 per pax.

And if it’s live jazz you have a hankering for – you’ve come to the right place – Tropic Green is a 7 pc group, led by Susan Harmer and it is some mean sets with original scores that they’ll be putting out there. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe on Friday. We have a special guests coming into town – Singapore boy Charlie Lim returns with his new EP and he plays @ Space this Friday from 9pm onwards. It’s great sound and in his words on his music : “I can’t put a finger on it without pigeonholing, so the best way I found to deal with the situation is to cook up some story about being the love child of John Mayer and Jackie Chan. Minus the paparazzi and kung fu poses.”

And we’ll be welcoming Ayaschool with open arms this Saturday, complete with one of the biggest, most beautiful voices around: Alemay, Casey S on bass and Muhd Noor on drums – we’re going R&B kids – get your groove on and head on down to Cafe. 9:30pm onwards!

Now as you know, we have a new kid on the block – Piedra Negra - serving addictive Mexican food down Haji Lane, off Beach Road. SynQ is doing a welcome to the new Semester party on 2nd Flr  this Saturday-and it’s a range of music: from lo-fi, chillout, electro, trance with a touch of  raggaeton and b-boy based hip-hop. 9pm onwards yo.

A reflection of 2010 and looking towards the horizon in 2011 – we take all that is good and allow them through our doors. As tradition goes, this is as good as it gets. Omniform performs tonight @ Blu Jaz from 9pm onwards – Greg Lyon leads this group with heart playing original compositions @ Cafe

And if the new year revelry has left you wanting for more, feel free to dance with our Lindy Hoppers on THURSDAY @ Cafe from 8:30pm onwards. It’s Swing Fling and the good people from Jitterbugs are still dancing away!

Aya is double billed this week and we LURRRVEEE it (and her) Pop by and grab a seat @ Cafe from 9:30pm onwards on FRIDAY with Aya and crew for a cool evening of tunes. But if you’re feeling twitchy and need to let your inner child come out to dance – join Good Times @ Lounge from 9:30pm onwards with some soul, funk and progressive house towards wee hours. If you’re feeling for some rock and indie, Mark Chee and friends are there to entertain. 9:30pm onwards @ Space

We’re not quiet. We’re merely gearing up for the party of the year – Blu Jaz style – Together with Good Time, we’re bringing you the mother of ALL parties and because of that we are CLOSED on 1st Jan and 2nd Jan, 2011 (yes we’ll give it so good that we’ll need 48 hrs to recover!)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS and to all our Christian friends – Merry Christmas! We have the best way to celebrate this week – with friends. It’s our pleasure to offer you our cafe – as good as it has been – open on the 24th and 25th Dec for your bookings! Our Muzium 1 & 2 are perfect venues for your gatherings – as well as space and lounge. Do note, however we CLOSE at 1am all around on the 25th Dec for a staff party!

But if you’re hankering for a program, Kerong and friends put up at Space for some snazzy jazz on Thursday. Cover is SGD 15 for the musicians and set starts at 8:30pm

Friday – Christmas Eve – Aya has something special planned up her sleeve – I have a feeling that Hendrix might be of influence but we’ll see. Excitement is tangible and we recommend reservations. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. Feeling tropical? From one island to another, Firman brings Reggae to Lounge and will be mixing some chillin’ to some chilli hot tunes late into the night. 9:30pm onwards.

If you haven’t heard – Piedra Negra – found hanging out at the corner of Beach Rd and Haji Lane – is open. The kitchen is a lovely hole in the wall, that isn’t quite a hole but a flurry of warm hot Mexican colours, serving spicy Sangria. Our Chef, Mario, comes from Mexico City and is happily helping us put on the pounds with his sinfullydelishcandiefor dishes. Don’t believe me. Please, try it for yourself. I ne’er bruff youse.

But over at Blu Jaz, we bring you a jam session TONIGHT – Munkee Business  – they call themselves and you can take you and your bizzzz up to Lounge to check out the core band or just holler your heart out with them – with an instrument – of course- this ain’t no Kareeeeoke. 8:30pm onwards… it’s freee. really.

And then the weekend arrives. Friday sees Kelvin Kew and Fanka Fellas drumming up a storm – quite literally. And in his words: Come dance with the coolest Djembe players in town. It’s a rock out party. 9:45pm onwards @ Cafe

It’s a comfort when Saturday is a promised night of great music, kick ass performers – Ayaschool slips onto stage and gives us our main course for the night – the music fit for the Devil himself. Seductive, exotic and cool to touch. Jazz at its finest. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. We also break into our new DJ decks @ Piedra Negra – Eugene and friend take over with some progressive house and favorite sing-a-longs. 9pm onwards @ Piedra Duo (2nd flr to us cool kids.)

We were mentioned on LUSH 99.5FM! Blu Jaz got air time thanks to Omniform – our 13 member band, playing the first Monday of the month and original composition. Jazz, of course!

But if you feel the need to get on up and do your “thang” but isn’t all that musically inclined – join us of our Open Mic Night on WEDNESDAY  - It’s Stand Up for Singapore and SGD 10 for entry – take a go – winner goes home with a cash prize, good vibes and adulation. Go on, satisfy yourself. 8:30pn onwards @ SPACE.

And if you craving for some live music, Ayaschool presents: The Apoquelips – a pop/rock sensation… It’s 8:00pm with SQUARED (feat. Audrey 10K & Erina Shan) taking stage followed by  the Apoquelips at 8:45pm. Cover is SGD 5 for students and SGD 7 for adults. go on up to SPACE for some great sounds.  Special appearance by legendary Bani Hendrix on bass, Regi Leo on guitar, Foxy on keys and Tett Mitchell on drums.

Fuse Collective returns to Blu Jaz with some killer sounds (and moves – have you seen Noor groove? Yeah, baby!) It’s a wonderful time where the musicians kick up the fun factor by leaps and bounds. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. And for some rock, funk – head on up to Lounge where you can catch some live music, followed by some progressive house @ Perverted Undertones. 9pm onwards

An alternative to ZoukOut or just wanna loosen it up before you hit Corsten’s set – join us @ Cafe for AYASCHOOL - 3 sets of crazzzyyyy, beautiful. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe and the music – jazz.

We’re gearing up for a new baby in the family and she is going to be brazen, moody, lovely, spicy all roll into one. She’ll just be a block down the street from us and we’re real happy to see her birth. As for her name – tune in to catch the christening of the new kid on the block.

Midweek Wednesday calls for a celebration because you’ve survived Monday blues and Tuesday tedium. So Funky Monkeys have the honour to encompass your listening mind with notes of funk, reggae and some soul. 8pm onwards @ Space

And Thursday sees Singapore’s talent on stage with Poetry Slam Night. Watch poets and spoken word artists perform their original poems over a 3-round competition. If your poetic side needs a go, you’re given 3 minutes to express yourself and then a round robin style to find the favorite for the night. Judges are randomly selected from the audience will score the poems based on content, performance and audience reaction. The Slam is hosted by Arianna Pozzuoli and will feature guest singer and songwriter Guro Røberg. Get on stage and Slam, or kick back, grab a drink and soak up the live action on stage. SGD 7 cover charge and winner goes home with SGD 75. 8pm onwards @ Space

To celebrate the end of the work week, we have Fuze Collective in the house this Friday – guaranteed to melt all stress away when you start a-groovin’ to Noor’s magic beats. 9:30pm @ Cafe. And for those even more energetic, Pushin’On blows in the doors of both Lounge and Space with Dance Sucka from 9pm . It’s their annual dance jam where poppers and lockers pose, strut their stuff. It has been taught in most major dance studios and dancers have gone on to compete in Korea, Japan and the US. We always encourage people to dance, but this time you might want to book a massage for the day after.

Dan Buckley joins us fresssh from the UK to lay down an infamous blend of jacked up tech fuelled beatz and electro. Back once again to twist your soul and trick your mind is RTYPE dubstep conisseur and cosmic funk aficionado, no-one can take you deeper.  Still shacking from his Lush FM debut Clark our very own electro renegade and techno evangelist is primed and set to get your hands in the air with an explosive box of late night crackers.  9pm onwards @ Lounge. If rock is in your blood that night, catch Leonie Hill‘s last performance of the year @ Blu Jaz Space – 9pm onwards
