Singapore Art Salon kick starts 2012 with us @ SPACE from 8pm. Join us for an evening of video screenings, dance performances and a surprise guest model!

It’s WEDNESDAY and we have Matrix Jam in da house! It’s at Lounge – where the incredible energy will be! 9pm onwards!

Come FRIDAY - being the first of the month – GOOD TIMES returns – together with good vibes, great music and whispers have it – a very bassy affair. 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge. And wooing you with more great music of a caliente vibe, is Maya Nova and the Latin Affair. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe

And SATURDAY - Greg Lyons together with Darren Moore come back with C.H.O.P.P.A - a night of improvisational jazz. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe

A brand new day, a brand new week and we sink our teeth into the arts, commencing with the anniversary celebration of the SPORE ART SALON on TUESDAY. It promises to be a night of new works from visual artists, conversation and exploration with other performing artistes. SGD 7 cover. Commences @ Space from 7pm onwards

Come WEDNESDAY, Eddy’s Jam Session is back in the house with more talents and groovy music to see you past mid-week. 9pm onwards @ Cafe, music is on the house while you dine on our varied menu.

And on THURSDAY, head on up to LOUNGE while ECLECTICA explores multiple musical genre using various instruments such as the Harmonica Sitar, Saxophone and Flute. 8pm onwards.

Kicking start the weekend, on FRIDAY, is GREG LYONS and his band of music merry making fellows. Jazz is a must and all others will compliment. Sweet sound of music starts from 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. And of course, it being the 1st Friday of the month, GOOD TIMES turns the heat up with funky grooves and cool tunes. 9:30 pm onwards @ Lounge. Expect the usual collision of Hip-Hop, House, Dubstep, Drum & Bass and more, set against the cosiest, most laidback joint in Singapore.

And ending the week @ Blu Jaz is AYASCHOOL. This time round, they be exploring more contemporary sounds with Shawn Letts on sax, Christy Smith on bass, Eddie Layman drums and of course, Aya on keys. They kick off from 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe so don’t you miss them.

At the 2nd floor SoulStrut is debuting their night at Blujaz, come and feel good music, enjoy bumpin’ good time, a beautiful crowd, and zero pretension. It’s a Soulcentric Music Club night that will touch your soul, make you feel good, lift you up, and make you get down with your bad self! Check your attitude at the door, and bring your boogie shoes to the dance floor.

It’s a little dated but THANK YOU EVERYONE who came down to Gambatte! Fight for Japan – thanks to all the artistes who contributed their craft, time and love – thank you for everyone who donated to the cause – if you haven’t heard – we raised SGD 76,000!!!!!!!!!!!! So, yeah – thank you!

And so it is, we drift towards the end of March but our programs certainly doesn’t simulate the lazy weather… it’s Djembe Open Mic Jam this THURSDAY with Lila Drums! Calling all hand drummers and percussionists out there to jam this Thursday night! Look forward to the Free Jam, Beginners Jam, and Performance Jam at Blu Jaz Cafe! Players, bring your djembe or any percussion instruments you want to jam with – don’t leave them home alone!  Come experience a melting pot of drumming passion – 8:30pm – 10:30pm @ Cafe.

It’s SoulFunkHipHopJungleJam with AYA this FRIDAY! lalalallalalalalaal – or rather boom boom boom…. featuring DJ KoFlow on decks, Willy on bass, Muhd Noor on drums and Rapper Blaze to bring the word… and if you get the push to share – come on down. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. Upstairs @ Lounge AND Space – we present – drum roll please – Pushin’On! Funk and hip-hop are inseparable. And when you get a chance to have them both in one place on one night, you take it. Pushin’On this month gives you a double dose of ‘live’ acts as they celebrate the musical month of March.

Duels Official
Duels Official is Singapore’s answer to rap battle leagues such as Grindtimenow, King of the Dot and Don’t Flop. Hisham The Mc, Enero and Rapscallion took inspiration from these movements and championed a rap battle league to draw attention to the skills of Singapore rappers and a rap battle as dynamic entertainment. Do not miss this set in a collaboration with DJ Shellsuit.

Masterpiece & the Mighty Mighty
“Live” funk resumes at Pushin’On with Masterpiece & the Mighty Mighty. From their debut in 2008 as the Lion City Orchestra, the Mighty Mighty is now the house band of Pushin’On. After a blistering set at the Pushin’On Anniversary, the Mighty Mighty returns with more rare music from Dyke and the Blazers and Wilson Pickett. Come and dance with the Mighty Mighty in a viciously funky 1-hour set with;

A regular flea market enthusiast in every country he calls home, he looks for rare music, unknown films, discarded photos or abandoned furniture, and tries to transform them into something appealing. And time to switch from soul to some digital sounds while 44 Beatz play host @ Lounge with House:: Dub:: Garage:: Hip Hop:: Other Prime Cuts. It’s a special edition of Soundscapes from 9:30pm onwards! New names, new riddims – same great party. With the rest of the Soundscapes regulars out of town, join us for a one-off special edition knees-up with a couple of fantastic guest DJs. Joining Soundscapes residents  are two of Singapore’s more colourful DJ characters – Uncle Johnny and Woogieboogie – who will add some cosmic, house and old-school hip hop vibes to the tried and tested Soundscapes formula. We’re gearing up for a new baby in the family and she is going to be brazen, moody, lovely, spicy all roll into one. She’ll just be a block down the street from us and we’re real happy to see her birth. As for her name – tune in to catch the christening of the new kid on the block.

Midweek Wednesday calls for a celebration because you’ve survived Monday blues and Tuesday tedium. So Funky Monkeys have the honour to encompass your listening mind with notes of funk, reggae and some soul. 8pm onwards @ Space

And Thursday sees Singapore’s talent on stage with Poetry Slam Night. Watch poets and spoken word artists perform their original poems over a 3-round competition. If your poetic side needs a go, you’re given 3 minutes to express yourself and then a round robin style to find the favorite for the night. Judges are randomly selected from the audience will score the poems based on content, performance and audience reaction. The Slam is hosted by Arianna Pozzuoli and will feature guest singer and songwriter Guro Røberg. Get on stage and Slam, or kick back, grab a drink and soak up the live action on stage. SGD 7 cover charge and winner goes home with SGD 75. 8pm onwards @ Space

To celebrate the end of the work week, we have Fuze Collective in the house this Friday – guaranteed to melt all stress away when you start a-groovin’ to Noor’s magic beats. 9:30pm @ Cafe. And for those even more energetic, Pushin’On blows in the doors of both Lounge and Space with Dance Sucka from 9pm . It’s their annual dance jam where poppers and lockers pose, strut their stuff. It has been taught in most major dance studios and dancers have gone on to compete in Korea, Japan and the US. We always encourage people to dance, but this time you might want to book a massage for the day after.

Dan Buckley joins us fresssh from the UK to lay down an infamous blend of jacked up tech fuelled beatz and electro. Back once again to twist your soul and trick your mind is RTYPE dubstep conisseur and cosmic funk aficionado, no-one can take you deeper.  Still shacking from his Lush FM debut Clark our very own electro renegade and techno evangelist is primed and set to get your hands in the air with an explosive box of late night crackers.  9pm onwards @ Lounge. If rock is in your blood that night, catch Leonie Hill‘s last performance of the year @ Blu Jaz Space – 9pm onwards

It’s nice and chilled out with David Lin – our travelling musician shall croon ballads and pop @ Space from 9pm onwards. He is here every Tuesday since end of Feb. Originally from Taiwan and having lived in Paris for a few years, he lends fresh interpretation to popular hits.

WEDNESDAY
For all musicians itching for a go with new and old friends, Matrix Jam is BACK - bring yr mouthpiece, instruments, strumming fingers and what not for an open, friendly session. 8:30pm onwards @ Cafe

THURSDAY
It’s a special by SINGHA and TIME OUT Magazine – invited guests only… Reggae @ Lounge or Ambient @ Space… A time to let loose and enjoy the nearing of a work week.

Swing Fling continues on faithfully and exuberantly @ Cafe. Wave hi to Sing or Brian for a complimentary class on how to Lindy Hop and join in the fun during the jam session. 8:30pm onwards

FRIDAY
It’s definitely a musical night with Fuse Collective taking charge of Cafe, with Fendi’s velvet voice heard over the airways. 9:30pm onwards.

Drum & bass, funk, hip-hop and everything in between…. Best of all, entry is FREE, drinks are RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP… just come for good music and company. DJs on rotation: Subvert, Ko-Flow, Nonsequitur and Ajay. 10pm till late…. As an added bonus, birthday boy DJ Nonsequitur has decided to spoil us with a special mix…. It’s – as they say DOPE - and cannot be missed!

It’s a new year and its time to reboot those memory banks and keep the dream alive with more great funking acid jazz and tech house than the wizard of oz can wave a wand at. Embarking from Blu Jaz’s freaky 2nd floor 44 Beatz show boat departs at 9pm sharp! It’s 2010 for a halcyon fueled adventure on the high seas of electronic escapism mirth and excess. No need to dress up this time but you sure as hell want to get down. The odyssey continues. See you on the dancefloor!
