It’s an AWESOME week cos we’re starting off with great music on MONDAY - as it is! Check out the Singapore Poly Jazz Band @ Cafe – playing yr jazz favorites with a fuller and bigger sound. 8:30pm onwards @ Cafe. And if you want something a little more intimate – head on up to SPACE where Melissa teams up with Christy on bass, Wen on drums and Joshua on keys. Eddie plays his final Revival Jam gig this WEDNESDAY before Mr Jeremy Monterio graces us in August. Eddie’s Revival Jam takes a short break so catch him and his crew for some real talent and music to your ears. 9pm onwards @ Cafe.
FunkiMunkees holds court this FRIDAY with great blues – the kind that just go straight to your soul. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. Pushin’On takes their last Friday of the month and party on hard. It’s a PLEASE GIVE AS YOU PLEASE - to keep the funk and fun going. The Mighty Mighty plays live and DJs Shellsuit, Chunk, Gonzo and guest DJ Koflow keep us entertain in between. All vinyl set: DJ Shellsuit vs DJ Koflow: When their powers combine, these 2 have more than 25 years of tight DJ-ing and obsessive record digging. Join them at the 2nd floor of Blu Jaz on a cut-and-paste journey through soul, funk, hip-hop, disco and old school electro. CUE: The Music is the fifth installment of this urban music night. The CHROAM boys draw on their experience of the London club scene to serve up an eclectic mix of sounds from the 70′s through to the here and now. Rare grooves, Funk, UK garage, deep soulful house, Hip/Hop you’ll find it at all. CUE: The Music – it’s about the people and music so bring your groove, an open mind as we bring the house party to you. 9:30pm onwards

I love Mondays with a bang….a musical sort of bang it is. OMNIFORM performs TONIGHT @ Cafe with original composition by Greg Lyons from 8:30pm onwards. And if you need a little more intimacy, head on up to SPACE where Nic Jeffries from down under plays with musicians such as Aya Sekine. Singer and saxaphonist’s debut album. SGD 5 cover for this budding solo artiste.
Come WEDNESDAY, we have the Matrix jam session, so you’re most likely gonna be spoiled for choice with the variety of musicians who drop by! George’s Matrix Jam is happening @ Lounge from 9pm onwards. Join us for some grrrrreeeaaat music!
it’s gonna be sexy THURSDAY cos Simon is back with some deep house grooves at Lounge from 9:30pm onwards. And if you’d like to catch some tunes in the way of Lenny Kravitz, Police, Maroon5 and that sort, PHAT makes their appearance with covers @ Space from 8;30pm onwards.
It’s a Latin Affair this FRIDAY @ Cafe and it’s muy cliente! We have the boys on stage with us whipping up some great tunes! The Line Up: Carlos, Enriquez, Hiro and Pablo. 9:30pm onwards.
And Aya makes her second appearance this week with AYASCHOOL on SATURDAY – a no holds bar of creative energy and passion – the delivery is smooth and hot at the same time. Jazz at its most alluring. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. For the walk to a different beat, you might wanna head on up to LOUNGE and SPACE for some Reggae just to put the chill in your pill. 9:30pm onwards. Time is only as important as you make it to be, once gone, it can never be returned…. unless you own a TANDIS but that is neither here nor there. We love end of the month as much as we love the beginning of the month so it’s wonderful that we have a COMBINATION this week.
Join Eddy’s Revival Jam Session on WEDNESDAY @ Blu Jaz Cafe. Tis the night to make merry (and perhaps some sing-a-long or chime in with an instrument or two) They be on stage from 8:30pm onwards, so come on down and be entertained.
Tropic Green plays FRIDAY and this 8 man strong band isagoing to give us some blues, funk, soul, jazz – those yummy tunes that make us Blu Jaz Cafe! 9:30pm onwards @ CAFE. Head on up to Lounge for some GOOD TIMES. Yesssssss 1st Friday of the month will allow us some hearty partaaaayyying. Headlining is UK Dubstep outfit CLEVER MONKEY, with a guest appearance by local multi-instrumentalist/noise-wizard Stewart Bamrah. In support, we’ve got DJs NATE and SIVANESH (from local collective RHOTD) dropping some four to the floor flavour. DJ KRUMBS will be holding it down on the Hip-Hop tip, with a generous serving of head-snapping Funk and Soul on the side. 9:30pm onwards.
Come SATURDAY, you’ll get our regular, punchy, wake up, spiiicceeeyyy sounds of AYASCHOOL. Resident band, diva with the talent, we’re going to see, or rather hear, some fantastic jazz – among other things… 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe.
And returning to our neighbourhood @ Piedra Negra is PASSION – Passion(Sensation returns transcending genres. Faithfuls descend to savour the divine Western fare, lounge from 9 to 12, and party up till 3am with the boys dishing out select tunes @ LOUNGE

It’s brand new week and we’re gearing up for some serious fun. ok – not so serious but very amusing fun, marvelous fun, sensational fun.. you get the drift.
This WEDNESDAY - Blu Jaz is pleased to work with UNIFEM to raise awareness against Sex-Trafficking. It’s a rock out with great bands, talented musicians and aspiring poets….. and the names on this list are: Ah5ive. Luke Nicholas Foo, The Cosmic Order, Cindy Try, Catalogue V, The Bakerloo Line and Elyzia… join us at CAFE or SPACE (1st and 3rd Flr) for the live action from 7:30pm onwards.
For the selective ears, we have Jeremy Tordjman & Pals, paired up with MiG, to give us some be-au-ti-ful music. Coming live to you from SPACE (3rd Flr), sweet notes of jazz can be heard. SGD 10 for entry to fabulous sounds (and feed the creative peeps) from 8pm onwards on THURSDAY.
And come FRIDAY, we have Fungki Munkees in da house. That means a night of lovely jazz and blues to take us into the weekend. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. And being the last Friday of the month, we have PUSHIN’ON on up @ Lounge and Space: The Mighty Mighty has a starring role together with Pushin’On residents DJ Shellsuit, DJ Chunk, DJ Dave Code & Masterpiece. They be spinning funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz, swing, disco, boogie and rockabilly over 2 floors of Blu Jaz Café. Over in our sister outlet: Piedra Negra, we give a shout out to world music lovers: Worldbeat Soundscape – hosted by DJs will start breathing Nigerian Afro Beats, boisterous beats of Batucada from Favelas of Brazil and Afro-Cuban Jazz from 9pm onwards on the 2nd Flr.
Just when you think you’re all partied out….. it’s SATURDAY and Ayaschool takes stage to get things-a-movin’ again. A dash of acid, a sprinkle of improv, a dollop of classics and we have great music going on. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. Or head on up to Lounge where CHROAM presents.. It’s a fairly cool start to the week where we be bringing you Eddy’s Revival Jam session this WEDNESDAY. And if you aren’t feeling up to being on stage, hang back to enjoy the great sounds. 9pm onwards @ Cafe
Aya gets a double billing this week and introduces her eclectic showcase this FRIDAY and SATURDAY. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe and both nights see ace musicians at our stage with jazz, funk, soul and loads of improv fused with electro.
And if it’s a dance party, you crave for, 44 BEATZ turns our lounge to a wicked pumpin’ place this FRIDAY from 9pm onwards with TFIF. Thank f*ck it’s Friday. Elevate your mind aboard the Soundscapes mothership. A cosmic odyssey. Wave upon wave of deep, tech beats and captivating hooks – interlaced with tripped out vocals and sublime strings. At the controls are interstellar renegades RTYPE, BUCKERS, JANVIN & 44BEATZ. Transcend the dusk to taste the dawn. Blend cocktails, friends and great sounds in true halcyon style.

Wednesday sees Ed Layman’s Jam Revival@Cafe – 8:30pm onwards and all are welcome. Leave the earplugs at home ‘cos it’s nothing but music to your ears!
Once again – it’s Poetry Slam Thursday and for lovers of the written word (and the sound of their own voice) drop by or rather go on up to SPACE. From 8pm onwards – free for all and – hosted by the very lovely Arianna – we guarantee a stimulating time. (leave the eggs at home, yeah?)
We’re going to melt-not from heat- but the velvety notes of FENDI - making a 3 set appearance this FRIDAY, he brings soul to a new level. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. Pushin’ On presents T Dot to the Little Red @ Lounge and Space cos it’s the last Friday and PAYDAY! Join them and 2 guests from Toronto. Masia One and Deejay L’Oqenz headline this month’s Pushin’On with a 2-hour set of hip-hop, soul, jazz and dancehall. Masia One will kick off with a ‘live’ set of beats and rhymes, including tracks off her latest album, Pulau. Deejay L’Oquenz then takes over the decks and brings a little bit of T Dot flavour to the dancefloor. It’s official – it’s a party!
Come SATURDAY - we see AYASCHOOL - with our lovely Aya and her fantastic mix of music, passion and soul. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe – expect greatness. Should you be tempted to walk on the road less traveled, head on up to SPACE from 9pm onwards where our THAI friends will be playing a mix of popular THAI hits and tunes from the American pop chart.

It’s a little hard to remain apathetic when the air is filled with a certain sort of buzz and the general elections, this year, seem to evoke more ambivalent sentiments than before….. at least that is what the coffee shop uncle says…. be it the polls or an epiphany on your rest of your life, we offer you space for that philosophical discussion among friends.
But if you’re hankering for a little music – we start mid week (WEDNESDAY) with Matrix Jam @ Lounge – bring your instruments down and I guess the only rule is keep up with the rest of the musicians – and yes, your vocals IS your instrument too… look for George from 8:30pm onwards
From notes to words – we bring you POETRY SLAM @ SPACE on THURSDAY - join our budding and aspiring poets – from solemn to quirky, from passionate to the darker realm, speak. We give you the stage. From 8pm onwards
And then it’s the weekend – we bring you some great blues from FunkyMunkees on FRIDAY - the young band with experienced sounds – close your eyes and dream of trip along the Mississippi – Tom Sawyer-like. 9:30pm @ Cafe. But if it’s a party you’re craving for, Pushin’On is going to bring it – featuring Brandon P, Masterpiece and the Mighty Mighty – right along with resident DJs Shellsuit, Chunk, Dave Code and Gonzo covering dance music in funk, soul, hip-hop, disco, boogie, swing, jazz, latin, reggae, rockabilly and afrobeat. 9:30pm @ Lounge.
On SATURDAY, we bring you some cool sounds with IRESON - a trio who boasts some of the best latin-jazz mixes you’ll get to hear around town. 9:30pm @ Cafe. The party continues with 44 Beatz @ Lounge from 9:30pm onwards with some great Techhouse and Electro – it’s Soundscapes with great sounds and the catalyst to your dancing from night till dawn.
And we’ll give a shout out for our sister at PIEDRA NEGRA with Passion(sensation – also residing temporary on the 2nd flr of Piedra on Saturday. And TRANCE is the main course on the menu that night.

A while back, we had the pleasure of Trent Williams dropping by our cafe to play for a night… he has a new video series – Park Bench Series – go on, have a look… lovely introspective inspiring piece just to accompany you during the day.
We start mid-week, this time round, with exercising our funny bone. It’s Stand Up for Singapore Comedy night again! YAY - Jon Atheron plays hosts and welcomes you, at least initially, to try your hand on stage and depending on your material, you may just survive your 5 minutes of fame and audiences will be clamoring for more! SGD 10 entry. 8pm @ Space on WEDNESDAY!
FRIDAY comes around before you know it and it’s Noor and gang @ Cafe from 9:30pm onwards, wooing you with nothing more or less than great music and passion. Head on up to Lounge to Turn Up the Heat (as if Singapore’s weather isn’t hot enough!) for some great DJ music – ranging from a little bit of progressive house to some great Latin fused beats. 9:30pm onwards.
It’s going to be a totally awesome Saturday as well with Vanessa Fernandez headlining our jazz group @ Cafe. With her hip hop and soul background, that something special and funky will surely come through and get you dancing! Up at LOUNGE, we present CHROAM -  CU3: The Music – an eclectic mix of urban sounds in chilled house party style atmosphere. CU3: The Music is the third installment of this urban music night. The CHROAM boys draw from an eclectic bag of grooves from the 70′s through to the here and now. Rare grooves, Funk, UK garage, deep soulful house, Hip/Hop you’ll find it at all CU3. It is about the people and the music …just bring your groove, an open mind and be prepared to move. It’s mid week and if you’ve been around, you’d have caught an awesome band – Ominform – on Monday @ Cafe – original compositions by Greg Lyons come to life! And you might have heard strains of a new band (new to us, anyway) Amnesia with their own brand of funky sounds… on Tuesday
Tonight (WEDNESDAY) we have Matrix Jam, hosted by George – which means all aspiring or professional musicians – head on up to Lounge from 8:30pm onwards and play your hearts out. A jammin’ session for musicians by musicians. And if you have a different sort of talent to unleash to our enthusiastic crowd – it’s open mic up @ Space from 8:30pm – try finding that tickle bone and see if you’ve got it.
Simon is back this month with his deep house mixes – sexy and tribal – join him @ Lounge on THURSDAY from 9pm onwards.
It’s the sexy chic Nikki D on sax – along with her friends so you’ll be getting a great night of Jazz on FRIDAY @ Cafe. Drop by from 9:30pm onwards to catch them or come even earlier for some yummy eats. Mosey along up to Lounge with Substance hosting – DJs spin minimal sounds to trance to techno to get you that high. 9:30pm onwards
And even though Aya is on a musical journey, we are terribly excited to have the Wicked boys this SATURDAY. It’s Wicked Aura Batucada, my friends and they WILL bring the house down. Join us from 9:30pm @ Cafe if not, you’ll be kicking yourself all the way till next year. Run up for some chilled vibes with the DJs doing a reggae night – so groove between the addictive Jamaican beats @ Lounge from 9:30pm and the infectious Brazilian rhythms!

Mosey – the word brings about a feeling of idyllic times – so we invite you to mosey on down to Blu Jaz/Muzium/Piedra Negra. For those who haven’t heard, we’ve got a variety of cuisine for you – from our local delights to the western platters, your options are found in the Blu Jaz kitchen. Or drop by Muzium for the neighborhood Middle Eastern fare but walk on down Haji Lane to Piedra Negra for the most tasty Mexican dishes you can find in town. Really.
This week, we’re hosting a Poetry Slam night @ Space on THURSDAY - you know the drill – sign up, go up, phrases soothing to the ears or fire up the soul – your choice. Your word. 8pm onwards
Payday! Come celebrate with our boys from Good Times as 1st April lands on the first Friday of the month. And no, we ain’t foolin’ – it’s breaks, hip hop, house and great tunes to move that body… pop it, lock it, break it… any which way you please. 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge. And we do a little swaparoo with Aya taking our center stage on Friday @ Cafe. She is going to blow us away with great music. 9:30pm onwards.
