This cup is full of surprises and it’s kinda sad that we’re waving off S Korea…. the group of nice(looking) young lads….. However, there are more exciting matches and we continue screening these battles in full volume: Netherlands vs Slovakia tonight and Spain vs Portugal tomorrow.

For those who are completely oblivious to the ball fever, join Grooveworks @ Cafe on Tuesday from 9pm for an aural delight and once more on Wed @ Cafe from 9pm onwards for Grooveworks II – same heart, different sound. Boogey on up to Lounge for some sounds from a different tropical island. DJ Divine does Reggae on Wednesdays

And we will be laughing out loud or cringing in silent with Open Mic Night. 8pm onwards @ Lounge this THURSDAY - be it talented spiel or a heartfelt attempt, we’re all friends and in for a good time. SGD 10 for cover. If the gift of gab is not bestowed unto you, perhaps the feet would prefer to do the talking. Do join us for SWING FLING - the lindy hopper’s dream – great music and talented dancers. It’s not a show but  an opportunity for you to try or just enjoy the vibe! 8pm @ Cafe

It’s smokey passion and haunting melodies – Grey Lyons’ Quartet brings some jazz to the house. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe on FRIDAY. But for those how are feeling more sprightly and wanna ‘get down with it’, Good Times throw on their most fabulous, awesome, kick-a$$ party @ Lounge. 9:30pm onwards – as always

MONDAY
No, we don’t have pillowtalks – though the shrink might be in the house if you seek a listening ear – we have Pillowphilia and Ouránia@Space from 8:30pm onwards – fresh tunes!

WEDNESDAY
For all musicians with a yearning to play their own – join us for MATRIX JAM @ LOUNGE - from 8:30pm onwards. As the name implies – it’s a JAM session – so no rules ‘cept your professional courtesy… let’s take turns and play nice!

Grooveworks continues to pull out great sets with earnest (and naturally talented) musicians under the tutelage of Greg Lyons. 9pm onwards @ Cafe – expect.. Jazz. what else?!

THURSDAY
Swing Fling @ Lounge. Say what? Swing Fling. You know, a gathering of lovely people lovin’ Lindy Hop – we give the freedom (and Jittebugs give the tunes) to try out, or for the more experienced – strut their stuff. It’s a dance night. Every Thursday. 8:30pm onwards.

FRIDAY
Indeed, it’s GOOD TIMES again and we present, well good times – which comprises GREAT music, people, fun and – yes  you! If you’ve not killed of the end of month pay check, drop on by for a drink or two. Even if sobriety has no effect on the great times you have since these DJs spin out spot on tracks,  a drink or many others wouldn’t hurt! 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge

SATURDAY
Ayaschool’s beebop may be on halt but her weekend gigs still promises to be a homecoming of sorts. Join us for her live sets for that perfect feeling! The music will blow, as always and it’ll wrap up nicely – the weekend that is. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe.

MONDAY (TONIGHT!)
Bring our ears and smiles as Origins return tonight with their snazzy mixes of jazz. A 6 pc, fun band to chase the Monday blues off. 9pm onwards @ Cafe

TUESDAY
It’s nice and chilled out with David Lin – our travelling musician shall croon ballads and pop @ Space from 9pm onwards. He is here every Tuesday since end of Feb. Originally from Taiwan and having lived in Paris for a few years, he lends fresh interpretation to popular hits.

WEDNESDAY
For all musicians itching for a go with new and old friends, Matrix Jam is BACK - bring yr mouthpiece, instruments, strumming fingers and what not for an open, friendly session. 8:30pm onwards @ Cafe

THURSDAY
It’s a special by SINGHA and TIME OUT Magazine – invited guests only… Reggae @ Lounge or Ambient @ Space… A time to let loose and enjoy the nearing of a work week.

Swing Fling continues on faithfully and exuberantly @ Cafe. Wave hi to Sing or Brian for a complimentary class on how to Lindy Hop and join in the fun during the jam session. 8:30pm onwards

FRIDAY
It’s definitely a musical night with Fuse Collective taking charge of Cafe, with Fendi’s velvet voice heard over the airways. 9:30pm onwards.

Locus by SUBVERTDrum & bass, funk, hip-hop and everything in between…. Best of all, entry is FREE, drinks are RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP… just come for good music and company. DJs on rotation: Subvert, Ko-Flow, Nonsequitur and Ajay. 10pm till late…. As an added bonus, birthday boy DJ Nonsequitur has decided to spoil us with a special mix…. It’s – as they say DOPE - and cannot be missed!
DJ Taz will be coming in early for a dash of funk and and plenty of soul. Come on down early for a real musical treat. 9pm onwards @ Lounge

We Gang – winner of Ben & Jerry’s Live Performance contest will debut at Blu Jaz Space with some pop and rockin’ hits. Expect great performances and DJ Nomsta to spin with great flair in between sets. No Fee entry so please buy the musicians a round or two! 9:30pm onwards @ SPACE

SATURDAY
Expect no less than the best, after gadget jam last week, Aya brings uber talented peeps on stage with Dawn Ho on vox, Andrew Klein on bass, Wen on drums and of course, Aya on keys….. In her words: prepare yourself to get soaked deep in our music. 9:30pm @ Cafe

It’s a new year and its time to reboot those memory banks and keep the dream alive with more great funking acid jazz and tech house than the wizard of oz can wave a wand at. Embarking from Blu Jaz’s freaky 2nd floor 44 Beatz show boat departs at 9pm sharp! It’s 2010 for a halcyon fueled adventure on the high seas of electronic escapism mirth and excess. No need to dress up this time but you sure as hell want to get down. The odyssey continues. See you on the dancefloor!

Time really flies at times, especially when the voice in the head whispers that you should attend all the brill acts upcoming @ Blu Jaz.

TONIGHT - MONDAY

THE ORIGINS. truly. originals. well, maybe some covers but you know, they rock. And what better way to spend the Monday after work hours, but to sip on some great martinis and relax into the sounds of professional music makers. 9pm onwards @ Cafe

TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY

Grooveworks does their practicas on Tues @ Space from 9pm onwards and woo us on the first floor (Cafe) from 9pm onwards on Wed. They be an eclectic mix, tutlelage under Greg Lyons and some of the more regular members are Keith who is a rockstar on bass and Freddi who rules the trombone in the classical arena, so hear them with their own Jazz interpretations.

WEDNESDAY

DJ Divine plays our steadfast Reggae lover and will spin for all the lovelies up there residing @Lounge. Set commences from 9pm onwards, so don’t stand up this charming gentleman.

THURSDAY

Magic Swing Fling is back. Danny returns with more tricks up his sleeves (GET IT?! ok corniness is allowed for the Queen of the written word) while the Lindy Hoppers entice all to the dance floor with a complimentary Lindy Hop Class from 7:30pm @ Cafe before DJ Sing spins those roaring 20s hits.

FRIDAY

The cats are out to play with Greg Lyon’s Quartet bringing you with great improvisational jazz along with some familiar hits… 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe – an outstanding set as always.

Dustpan Recordings featuring Ian boast one of the best House mixes in town and they will bring up the tempo this Friday @ Lounge from 9pm onwards. Grooving body mandatory.

A bout of world music featuring Casey and Noor @ Space means that music repertoire is a surprise but a definite pleasure it would be. 9:30pm onwards.

SATURDAY

With Aya helming the set, we promise it to be crazy but with Budi present this Sat – our cafe might just burst with all that energy. Ayaschool presents Uan-Abang (and boy does this kid’s fingers move!) and Bobby the one-and-only Singh on percussions, Budi on vox (can someone say sexy?!) and Mario Lopez on bass… ooh lala. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe

And it’s Hip Hop night @ Blu Jaz Lounge with just a tad of soul and funk. DJ Divine returns and displays his other music passion. For those who can’t wait be shakin’, trippin’, breakin’ and poppin’ – this is your night. 9pm onwards @ Lounge

“Good Times” is all for a night out with your best mates, filled with zany incidents and crazy antics. We invite you to rock up to a night where you are the master of the dance floor.

and a Happy Children’s day to all us all… Monday passed us by with yet another awesome set by Omniform, our 10 member jazz group, put together by Greg Lyons – fueled by. passion. And on Wednesday, we see a new group formed by passion again. Students attending Greg’s class put together compositions to showcase more Jazz from 9pm @ the Cafe on Level 1
This Thursday, LIla Drums take a break while most of their members ‘balik kampung’ for a visit towards friends and family. We wish them a good feast too!

And on Fridays, Greg’s Monster Trio woos us with more of his brand of jazz and isn’t it about the notes you can’t hear and the space in between? Sets commence from 9:30pm and yes, reservations are STILL recommended. Going up one floor to LOUNGE (2nd floor, for those whose brains hasn’t quite kicked into from the weekend) Good Times return with impressive sounds generated by

We clear the space for all those who would like to flash their moves…..

And on @ Space (3rd Floor) Kyoko returns for another belly dance night to entice all with some hip dropping motions…. Set starts at 930pm and yes, seats are fairly limited too but we welcome you to rally round the bar with some kick-a$$ drinks in hand :)
