Welcome to 2012 – we hope you have enjoyed your break for as long as we have, ours!
It’s regular favorites with Matrix Jam @ Lounge on WEDNESDAY where you can hear great music. A veritable jam session where musicians just drop by to participate, tap their feet or enjoy the relaxed vibe of the evening. 9pm onwards.
We have a special band this FRIDAY gracing our stage: INDIGO, featuring Dawn on vox, Munir on bass, Wan ABang on drums and Aya on keys! 9:30pm onwards – a lethal combination of massive talents and good looks all around.
If it’s a party that you are still hankering after, GOOD TIMES returns! An intro for the NOOBS: the party is an unique event produced by BEDSTY PARTIES, where everybody is invited to let loose, and be treated to good old school tunes, funky breaks, and boogie into the night as we up the tempo and beat. Every month our favourite DJs will be dropping a quality mix of Breaks, Hip-Hop, Drum & Bass, Dubstep and everything in between. As always, entry is FREE, drinks are cheap and clothing is optional*. You bring the good vibes and we’ll settle the rest.

Come SATURDAY - AYASCHOOL mixed a rare combination to bring you some kick-a$$ tunes: Kerong on organ (a real treat!) , Wen Ming on drums and of course Aya on keys. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. If you feel the need to be soothed and reflect, head on up to LOUNGE with Noel Cabangon‘s acoustic performance with support from bands: KARRA and QUIVER - SGD 15 for entry and performance starts at 7pm.

On TUESDAY, the French Duo Huguette & Toufik (Hugo et Sophie) from France, two crazy cupcakes starting their world tour with music!
Guitar, ukulele and harmonica… rhythm, folk and reggae covers to make you shake your bootie and chill. A groovy duet taking over LOUNGE (2nd floor) with an accoustic set to celebrate life. Musical journey of reflection and quiet joy. 9pm onwards. And it’s “gratuit” (complimentary to all music seekers)
We take things up a notch on WEDNESDAY with Eddy’s Jam Session @ Cafe. A band whose passion for jazz meshed together with the love of performing – sharing this cool genre with you. Bring self. 9pm onwards.
Are you born in the 60s, the 70s? Do you reminisce the good o’days watching old Hong Kong slapstick or heart wrenching Gangster Movies like Young & Dangerous and Fight Back to School? Do Stephan Chow, Andy Lau, Chow Yun Fatt, Sandra Ng, Ng Meng Tat come easily to mind? Curly and Sam bring you a movie screening DOWN MEMORY LANE @ LOUNGE on THURSDAY - from 8pm onwards.
The gorgeous and wonderful Anne Weerapass will grace us with her enchanting voice this FRIDAY @ Cafe. So come on by and catch the repertoire of cool sounds and sizzling vocals from 9:30pm onwards.
Wrapping up the week, just gorgeously, this SATURDAY are:
Ayaschool – Naughty and Nice, featuring Joanna Dong on vocals, Muhd Noor on drums, Bani on bass – if you’re expecting a traditional arrangements of Christmas carols – bear in mind Jo’s ‘twisted’ humor. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe.
E-TracX DJ School celebrates their 9th Anniversary and will be blowing your ears and minds off @ Lounge and Space. With a line up of more than 15 DJs, covering a wide range of genres from Hip Hop, Funk & Soul and Reggae to Electronica, you’re going to find something to set you dancing and carry on till wee hours of the night. Doors open as early as 6pm, yo.

A brand new day, a brand new week and we sink our teeth into the arts, commencing with the anniversary celebration of the SPORE ART SALON on TUESDAY. It promises to be a night of new works from visual artists, conversation and exploration with other performing artistes. SGD 7 cover. Commences @ Space from 7pm onwards
Come WEDNESDAY, Eddy’s Jam Session is back in the house with more talents and groovy music to see you past mid-week. 9pm onwards @ Cafe, music is on the house while you dine on our varied menu.
And on THURSDAY, head on up to LOUNGE while ECLECTICA explores multiple musical genre using various instruments such as the Harmonica Sitar, Saxophone and Flute. 8pm onwards.
Kicking start the weekend, on FRIDAY, is GREG LYONS and his band of music merry making fellows. Jazz is a must and all others will compliment. Sweet sound of music starts from 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. And of course, it being the 1st Friday of the month, GOOD TIMES turns the heat up with funky grooves and cool tunes. 9:30 pm onwards @ Lounge. Expect the usual collision of Hip-Hop, House, Dubstep, Drum & Bass and more, set against the cosiest, most laidback joint in Singapore.
And ending the week @ Blu Jaz is AYASCHOOL. This time round, they be exploring more contemporary sounds with Shawn Letts on sax, Christy Smith on bass, Eddie Layman drums and of course, Aya on keys. They kick off from 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe so don’t you miss them.
At the 2nd floor SoulStrut is debuting their night at Blujaz, come and feel good music, enjoy bumpin’ good time, a beautiful crowd, and zero pretension. It’s a Soulcentric Music Club night that will touch your soul, make you feel good, lift you up, and make you get down with your bad self! Check your attitude at the door, and bring your boogie shoes to the dance floor.

It’s rainy season and you know it with us being rained on almost every afternoon. Come take refuge @ our friendly cafe with our famous seafood sambal fried rice or a beer for company.
Music accompaniment starts on TUESDAY with TwentyNine-Eleven – a band of LaSalle musicians led by Jeremy Tordjman, introducing some jazz classics to your ears. 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge. Entry is almost compulsory and definitely complimentary.
And on WEDNESDAY, Eddy’s Jam Session is back and kicking for another mesmerizing session. Set starts at 9pm and won’t stop till we close! (or in the region of)
If the spoken word is your love, hang out with the guys @ POETRY SLAM this THURSDAY @ SPACE. The ‘hearing’ commences at 8pm.
The velvet voice is back @ Blu Jaz Cafe. Come FRIDAY, Fendi and his crew might make you sigh and swoon over his soulful funk sounds. 9:30pm onwards. And Pushin’On does a special as it’s their LAST PARTY OF 2011! The night sees The Mighty Mighty and guests, Renee Smith on vocals and Ad Jeuken on keys bring the house down, followed by resident and guest DJs, featuring:

We’ve all been hearing about water… Floods in the Land of Smiles – Thailand – our neighbor. Reports have shown that many are stranded and left without the minimum staples. I just got back from Bangkok last week and you could see signs of them preparing for floods everywhere. The outskirts were horribly hit and also left the city reduced of some essentials – like drinking water. Our Thai friends in Singapore and Blu Jaz are getting together this TUESDAY to raise some money for the victims. Though a tragedy, the optimistic outlooks of our Thai friends are contagious and a live band be-a-playing @ Lounge from 8:30pm onwards. For every Singha beer you buy, Blu Jaz donates the whole proceed of SGD 10/bottle to the fund. So we hope you will join us for meaningful night.
Come THURSDAY - The Blackberries are debuting @ Blu Jaz Space! Band starts playing at 9pm. For those that haven’t seen them live before, The Blackberries are a collection of folk from all corners, hailing from the UK, Shanghai and South Africa, with a healthy dose of Kiwi thrown in for good measure. They’ll be playing a wide assortment of tunes from the 80′s, 90′s and naughties, a veritable mix-tape of slightly left-of-centre classics we’re sure you’ll love, together with a couple of their own original tunes. See you there!
It’s 3 heavy hitters with us on FRIDAY @ Cafe. Presenting… Aya on keys, Darren on drums and Greg on sax! It’s gonna be a killer night of sweet music and acid notes. 9:30pm onwards. Come rain or shine, Pushin’On is back @ Blu Jaz Lounge AND Space with the mother of all parties. Dean Chew, otherwise known as Funk Bast*rd of Cosa Nostra along with Unconventional Science return to Blu Jaz with disco, boogie, nu-funk and some diverse selection of Asian funk records! DJ JNR debuts with Pushin’On with Deep House, Detroit Techno, Philly Soul and early house. Of course, we wouldn’t be complete without the Mighty Mighty! So join us for a night of mayhem – cover – give as you please and the more you give, the more you’ll help the music go a long way!

Well – we have some talented musicians from our neighbours: Srey Channthy and Julien Poulson aka the Monkey & the Mermaid, vocals and guitar for THE CAMBODIAN SPACE PROJECT are stopping in Singapore for one night only. They will be playing an acoustic set from The Cambodian Space Project ALBUM at BluJaz Space – from 8pm onwards. What some people say about them:

If it’s a different sort of party you’re craving for, GOOD TIMES returns on the 1st Friday of the month to present with DJ Krumbs, Intrigue and Race* on the decks. SATURDAY sees Ayaschool back at Cafe. From 9:30pm onwards, this lovely lady will give a kill keyboard set along with some friends to croon and blast out those jazz tunes. Infused with some soul, funk and loads of talent, the music is devine. If your groove leans towards the islands – REGGAE is the name of the game. It’s been a very loud weekend with the cars in circles and as the party glamour dust settles, we invite you to chill out in comfortable surroundings and personable service. However come mid-week, Eddy revives jam sessions and host an electrifying session with music galore to boot. It’s WEDNESDAY from 9pm @ Cafe, so come for dinner and stay for entertainment.
On THURSDAY, it’s Poetry Slam Night and all you word lovers, take the creative liberty of the English language to showcase your talent. Rap it, sing it, dramatize it – just come. And there is plenty of room for them audience too. So head on up to SPACE - from 8pm onwards.
The party on FRIDAY is bound to be uplifting to say the least as Pushin’on returns for the usual end of the month party. But what is not on our regular menu is the debut of the new covers – turning soul to latin. The Mighty Mighty ‘live’, house band of PushinâOn, continues a timeless tradition of funk nights around the world such as Motherfunk and Breakin’ Bread and they hit the 3rd floor of Blu Jaz (SPACE) with 2 sets of funk, soul and R&B. DJ KFC, Shellsuit, Chunk, Dave Code and Gonzo rule LOUNGE (2nd for of Blu Jaz) with hip-hop, disco, nu-funk, latin, jazz, swing, boogie and rockabilly. 9:30pm onwards. But if you’re feeling mellow – hang out at Cafe where dreamy-velvety-voiced FENDI leads on vocals of Fuze Collective. 9:30pm onwards.
AYASCHOOL rocks out @ Cafe on SATURDAY, figuratively at least, since they bring you cool jazz, smooth souls, hot tempos – all from 9:30pm onwards. And you don’t need to be a kid to play on this day, CHROAM blow up their party all the way up to SPACE - where they present some groovy tunes for you to nod your head to before you rev it up and head down to LOUNGE - where they claim the airways with their mix of banging’ electro beats. Simon returns with deep, sexy house the first THURSDAY of the month and he is going to provide some groovy right before the weekend hits. So come on up to LOUNGE and give your ears an aural pleasure. 9:30pm onwards.
Come FRIDAY - party with GOOD TIMES @ Lounge. It’s veteran hip-hop selector DJ DREM and breakbeat mainstay Joshua P on the decks. They’re joined by Kiat, head honcho of the mighty Syndicate collective and a pioneer of the local underground sound. They are also showcasing Orita Sinclair – a boutique design, new media and arts school. In gratitude, Good Times is proud to showcase a collection of Good Times posters designed by their students. (They’re lookin’ mighty dope!) As always, there’s no dress code to party with us and entry is absolutely free.
