It’s a short work week and certainly a great fun week…. with… STAND UP FOR SINGAPORE on WEDNESDAY - a night of aspiring comedians. Head right on up to SPACE from 8:30pm onwards – cover is SGD 15 to help the event go a long way. And if you are craving a jam, it’s EDDY’s JAM SESSION @ Cafe from 9pm onwards – great music, good food – what are you waiting for?

Kerong, our lovely keyboardist, is back with friends to create music mayhem this THURSDAY @ SPACE. Cover is a mere SGD 15 and all go to the artistes. 8.30pm onwards for notes afloat.

Come FRIDAY, MIG rules Cafe with snazzy jazz – MIG being Muhd Noor, Casey S and Leo – the smooth, sexy, dark sounds from this trio. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. Dance away in the Milkyway – featuring DJ FOXXXY, DJ STARLITE, DJ HARDBREAKER - to whip up your weekend appetites through different genres of music, churning out their best anthems that ravaged dancefloors. And our SATURDAY needs no introduction with AYASCHOOL serving up hits of jazz, soul and funk. A promising night of pushing music boundaries, inspired by popular favorites. DJ KoFlow on decks/MPC, Casey on bass, Erik Hargrove on drums and, of course, Aya on keys. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. CHROAM fills up LOUNGE and SPACE with more cool eletronnica sounds ranging from minimalist to house. 9:30pm onwards.

Greetings to all dabblers on All Hallows’ Eve – if you’re still feeling the bite of The Alcohol Family after a weekend of revelry and such, come on down for a relaxed and peaceful evening.

Greg Lyons and friends return on FRIDAY @ Cafe. A quartet of jazz at its purest form – 9:30pm onwards – if you need your music medication. Head on up to LOUNGE for some GOOD TIMES! We’ve all been hearing about water… Floods in the Land of Smiles – Thailand – our neighbor. Reports have shown that many are stranded and left without the minimum staples. I just got back from Bangkok last week and you could see signs of them preparing for floods everywhere. The outskirts were horribly hit and also left the city reduced of some essentials – like drinking water. Our Thai friends in Singapore and Blu Jaz are getting together this TUESDAY to raise some money for the victims. Though a tragedy, the optimistic outlooks of our Thai friends are contagious and a live band be-a-playing @ Lounge from 8:30pm onwards. For every Singha beer you buy, Blu Jaz donates the whole proceed of SGD 10/bottle to the fund. So we hope you will join us for meaningful night.

Come THURSDAY - The Blackberries are debuting @ Blu Jaz Space! Band starts playing at 9pm. For those that haven’t seen them live before, The Blackberries are a collection of folk from all corners, hailing from the UK, Shanghai and South Africa, with a healthy dose of Kiwi thrown in for good measure. They’ll be playing a wide assortment of tunes from the 80′s, 90′s and naughties, a veritable mix-tape of slightly left-of-centre classics we’re sure you’ll love, together with a couple of their own original tunes. See you there!

It’s 3 heavy hitters with us on FRIDAY @ Cafe. Presenting… Aya on keys, Darren on drums and Greg on sax! It’s gonna be a killer night of sweet music and acid notes. 9:30pm onwards. Come rain or shine, Pushin’On is back @ Blu Jaz Lounge AND Space with the mother of all parties. Dean Chew, otherwise known as Funk Bast*rd of Cosa Nostra along with Unconventional Science return to Blu Jaz with disco, boogie, nu-funk and some diverse selection of Asian funk records! DJ JNR debuts with Pushin’On with Deep House, Detroit Techno, Philly Soul and early house. Of course, we wouldn’t be complete without the Mighty Mighty! So join us for a night of mayhem – cover – give as you please and the more you give, the more you’ll help the music go a long way!

Aya makes a double billing this weekend and on SATURDAY, she is captain with AYASCHOOl with a tres sexy line-up. We have Munir on bass, Kaye on sax and the lovely Dawn Ho on vox. 9:30pm onwards.
And if you’re looking for a Halloween Party – come on over to Angels and Demons presented by The Dig vs Heart of Glass. Spanning 2 floors of Blu Jaz we have the heavenly indie beauties upstairs (level 3) and filthy dub-tech demons downstairs (level 2) where they belong. It’s gonna be a night of dancing to prepare you for future daze. Come expect the unexpected & lose yourself to the wayward beat!

YES WE ARE OPEN!!!! Today for lunch and dinner @ Blu Jaz. However we open from 4pm tomorrow. We wish all our Muslim friends a happy Hari Raya Puassa! Eat well and enjoy!

And staring off mid-week (WEDNESDAY) is Jeremy Monteiro and his crew – this is the last installment of Jeremy’s brand of jazz @ Blu Jaz for a bit, so come on down and catch him, live! 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe.

Simon returns with deep, sexy house the first THURSDAY of the month and he is going to provide some groovy right before the weekend hits. So come on up to LOUNGE and give your ears an aural pleasure. 9:30pm onwards.

Come FRIDAY - party with GOOD TIMES @ Lounge. It’s veteran hip-hop selector DJ DREM and breakbeat mainstay Joshua P on the decks. They’re joined by Kiat, head honcho of the mighty Syndicate collective and a pioneer of the local underground sound. They are also showcasing Orita Sinclair – a boutique design, new media and arts school. In gratitude, Good Times is proud to showcase a collection of Good Times posters designed by their students. (They’re lookin’ mighty dope!) As always, there’s no dress code to party with us and entry is absolutely free.

Two floors of funk, soul, hip hop – they start from 9pm @ Lounge and Space. Show them the love with a generous cover as it’s a give as you please!

So here is the low-down, bullet style, for this week.

Jeremy Monteiro and his crew joins us on WEDNESDAY (only in August!!!) @ Cafe from 9:30pm onwards. So if you would like to catch one of Singapore’s pillar jazz musician, come on down.

On THURSDAY, we host Rhythm with a Reason – a night of acoustic – spanning 3 different bands where they come together for a cause. 9pm onwards @ Space.

And we have Greg Lyons and mates, this time on a FRIDAY, @ Cafe from 9:30pm onwards. But for Soundscapes wtih 44 beatz where tech, house, a dash of trance fill the airways, head on up to Lounge. From 9:30pm onwards.

And for our regular, feel good, sounds great band – AYASCHOOL, plays this SATURDAY from 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. It’s a jazz gig with a little them funk, soul and latin…. P!O!P! KISS! Indie Night @ space where Janson from 4 Imaginary boys, Redmund from Dylan Productions House and Collin from Fluid Mix Singapore will be deejaying the night away. From 9:30pm onwards

CouCou…… it’s the 1st MONDAY of the month and we have OMNIFORM with us @ Cafe. Without a doubt, this would be THE band to hang out with on Monday. 9pm onwards – have a bite, put up your feet, grab a drink and enjoy this aural pleasure.

Come WEDNESDAY, it’s Jeremy Monteiro’s first gig with us – the month of August sees this respected jazz artistes and his crew, coaxing out them notes for us. 9pm onwards @ Cafe.

It’s Simon on decks again this THURSDAY @ Lounge with very deep, very sexy – house. 9:30pm onwards, head on up where the man does his magic to take you to a different plane – a gratifying cerebrum experience.

Ayaschool does a SWAP and they are ON this FRIDAY @ Blu Jaz Cafe from 9:30pm onwards. It’s a mad-capped night just cos, well, it’s Aya. And right on time to celebrate the new month, we have GOOD TIMES. Spinning favorite sounds with new mixes, the DJs give you tunes to bust out them moves. And to quote: Just. Do. It’s a Latin Affair with IRESON @ Cafe on SATURDAY. Cool Jazz and Hot Latin music is on the playlist with Alina on keys. Come on down and join the revelry from 9:30pm onwards.

4th July – 9th July

I love Mondays with a bang….a musical sort of bang it is. OMNIFORM performs TONIGHT @ Cafe with original composition by Greg Lyons from 8:30pm onwards. And if you need a little more intimacy, head on up to SPACE where Nic Jeffries from down under plays with musicians such as Aya Sekine. Singer and saxaphonist’s debut album. SGD 5 cover for this budding solo artiste.

Come WEDNESDAY, we have the Matrix jam session, so you’re most likely gonna be spoiled for choice with the variety of musicians who drop by! George’s Matrix Jam is happening @ Lounge from 9pm onwards. Join us for some grrrrreeeaaat music!

it’s gonna be sexy THURSDAY cos Simon is back with some deep house grooves at Lounge from 9:30pm onwards. And if you’d like to catch some tunes in the way of Lenny Kravitz, Police, Maroon5 and that sort, PHAT makes their appearance with covers @ Space from 8;30pm onwards.

It’s a Latin Affair this FRIDAY @ Cafe and it’s muy cliente! We have the boys on stage with us whipping up some great tunes! The Line Up: Carlos, Enriquez, Hiro and Pablo. 9:30pm onwards.

And Aya makes her second appearance this week with AYASCHOOL on SATURDAY – a no holds bar of creative energy and passion – the delivery is smooth and hot at the same time. Jazz at its most alluring. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. For the walk to a different beat, you might wanna head on up to LOUNGE and SPACE for some Reggae just to put the chill in your pill. 9:30pm onwards. hello kiddies. I feel you – the Monday morning slug hit all of us – but nothing a few cup of Java beans can’t fix – though brewed would taste better than its original form.

It’s a fairly cool start to the week where we be bringing you Eddy’s Revival Jam session this WEDNESDAY. And if you aren’t feeling up to being on stage, hang back to enjoy the great sounds. 9pm onwards @ Cafe

Aya gets a double billing this week and introduces her eclectic showcase this FRIDAY and SATURDAY. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe and both nights see ace musicians at our stage with jazz, funk, soul and loads of improv fused with electro.

And if it’s a dance party, you crave for, 44 BEATZ turns our lounge to a wicked pumpin’ place this FRIDAY from 9pm onwards with TFIF. Thank f*ck it’s Friday. Elevate your mind aboard the Soundscapes mothership. A cosmic odyssey.  Wave upon wave of deep, tech beats and captivating hooks – interlaced with tripped out vocals and sublime strings. At the controls are interstellar renegades RTYPE, BUCKERS, JANVIN & 44BEATZ.  Transcend the dusk to taste the dawn. Blend cocktails, friends and great sounds in true halcyon style.

We tone it down a notch on SATURDAY @ LOUNGE with REGGAE NIGHT - groove to the beat or tap to the rhythm  – your choice. Always. 9:30pm onwards.

For those who missed it… our “mural” party, starring Jaba, was awesome! Have a look (and a listen)…..

IRESON comes on into Blu Jaz Cafe on FRIDAY. Founded by Alina and Marion in 1991, they’ve grown from the Salsa band to include jazzy pieces and will be sure to give us a lively Bossa Nova set. From 9:30pm onwards.  And it’s GOOD TIMES and MORE GOOD TIMES - the first Friday of the month  – you can’t miss a great party, and way-out sounds.  9:30pm onwards @ Lounge
