10th May – 15th May

May 11, 2010

Elevate mid week stress and ennui with us. We have super humourous guests visiting us this WEDNESDAY with StandUp Singapore @ Space – open mic featuring Glenn Wool, Jonathan Atherton and a gaggle of local funny-(wo)man. And if you don’t feel like a mental stimulation, go on up to LOUNGE where MATRIX will jam the whole night.

We have a MAY special for you on THURSDAYS- presenting Ayaschool of BEE BOP @ Cafe where peeps enjoy 3 solid sets of 100% instrumental Jazz. It’s a beautiful trial in every possible way, myriad of soul, love and talent. Swing Fling brings up the moves a notch as they swing on up to LOUNGE. Showing off Lindy jumps and splits, the Jitterbug dancers are there purely for the love of swing music and dance. Regardless of your level, feel free to boogie on by. Approach Sing or Brian for a complimentary demo.

Greg’s Quartet returns to Cafe this Friday with some more kick-a$$ sets and if you are liking them cool jazz sounds, stroll, drift, run on in – we don’t really care how -  to Cafe for live sounds!

And from cool jazz, we welcome Ayaschool on SATRUDAY and her very special brand of music – which is hard to predict but the promise of greatness is always there, be it electro-jazz, funk, soul or experimental. 9:30pm @ Cafe. If some cross-cultural flava is to your desire, try SPACE with our Thai friends – comprising a mixture of English and Thai radio friendly hits, this bunch will teach you more than Sawadeeka if you like to.

Peace Out, Ya’all

It’s like Birthday Week @ Blu Jaz- celebrating it on a THURSDAY @ Space is our wonderful handsome Monsieur Ben – the go-to guy for Blu Jaz Events. (go on up to Space to say hi!) AND for our great partner in music – Good Times are taking the three floors to blow the candles this FRIDAY from 9pm onwards. Expect nothing but good tunes but if you really need the specific: it’s funk, hiphop, mashups, electro, dubstep and dnb with DJs Krumbs, J-Stylez and Syafii G from Bedsty, DJs Rough, DJ Darren Dubwise. and guest DJ: DJ Platurn from USA.

And I did say Birthday! 44 Beatz takes charge of both Lounge and Space on SATURDAY and turns ONE!  Throwing the mother of all Birthday Parties, they’ve got, spinning alongside residents Clark & Raeburn J,  great friend and long time collaborator Reiki (Breakin Asia). She was there when they started so its fantastic to welcome her back! From a familiar face to a new one Justin Jh (Coup) joins us for his Soundscapes debut, no stranger to Blu Jaz it’s a pleasure to have him on board. Lastly and without question by no means least Soundscape is once again privileged to have X’ho back amongst us. Musician, producer, poet and host of Lush FM’s Clubscape this man is without doubt a custodian of Singapore’s electronic scene. Essentially starting off chilled, sophisticated and relaxed before pushing the tempo and ending up in a hot, trashy, fever-pitched mess. JOIN US!

If you aren’t quite feeling the Mother of All Parties but still feeling a fevered and crazzeeee, head on down to Cafe on Saturday from 9:30pm onwards with AYASCHOOL. Always awesome, always fun.
