It’s nice and chilled out with David Lin – our travelling musician shall croon ballads and pop @ Space from 9pm onwards. He is here every Tuesday since end of Feb. Originally from Taiwan and having lived in Paris for a few years, he lends fresh interpretation to popular hits.

WEDNESDAY
For all musicians itching for a go with new and old friends, Matrix Jam is BACK - bring yr mouthpiece, instruments, strumming fingers and what not for an open, friendly session. 8:30pm onwards @ Cafe

THURSDAY
It’s a special by SINGHA and TIME OUT Magazine – invited guests only… Reggae @ Lounge or Ambient @ Space… A time to let loose and enjoy the nearing of a work week.

Swing Fling continues on faithfully and exuberantly @ Cafe. Wave hi to Sing or Brian for a complimentary class on how to Lindy Hop and join in the fun during the jam session. 8:30pm onwards

FRIDAY
It’s definitely a musical night with Fuse Collective taking charge of Cafe, with Fendi’s velvet voice heard over the airways. 9:30pm onwards.

Locus by SUBVERTDrum & bass, funk, hip-hop and everything in between…. Best of all, entry is FREE, drinks are RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP… just come for good music and company. DJs on rotation: Subvert, Ko-Flow, Nonsequitur and Ajay. 10pm till late…. As an added bonus, birthday boy DJ Nonsequitur has decided to spoil us with a special mix…. It’s a new year and its time to reboot those memory banks and keep the dream alive with more great funking acid jazz and tech house than the wizard of oz can wave a wand at. Embarking from Blu Jaz’s freaky 2nd floor 44 Beatz show boat departs at 9pm sharp! It’s 2010 for a halcyon fueled adventure on the high seas of electronic escapism mirth and excess. No need to dress up this time but you sure as hell want to get down. The odyssey continues. See you on the dancefloor!

Ladies and Gentlemen – Welcome to 2010! Even if everyday is special, sometimes, it’s the small joys that carry us through and life is nothing but a sum of our experiences and celebrations.

MONDAY (TONIGHT!!!)
If you haven’t heard from our grapevine (your ear isn’t close enough to the earth!), we’re telling you once that Omniform will be playing tonight – the biggest jazz band around – comprising 13 members, they play original compositions by Greg Lyons – thought provoking sounds – 9pm onwards @ CAFE

THURSDAY
If you’ve missed our great White Swing Out, don’t worry – we’re still here for our regular Swing Fling nights where ordinary pedestrians turn dancers extraordinare – or at the very least – enthusiastic amateurs. We welcome all and Sing or Brian of Jitterbugs Dance School can be found for a complimentary trial class – either by the console or polishing our floor with their nifty steps. 8:30pm onwards @ Cafe

Our talented Ke Rong is back in Singapore – albeit briefly – but nevertheless, a sight, or rather wonderful sounds for the ears.. He teams up with Darren Moore and friends to give a mini-concert of sorts. COVER is SGD 15 to support musicians so head on up for some extraordinary jazz tunes from 9pm onwards. FRIDAY
Greg Lyons’ Quartet comes in with jazz sounds akin to Coltrane and Davis – perfect for a night with whiskey in hand. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe

Good Times is back for another great night of funk, hip hop and break beats. With us, you’ll be guaranteed, not just good, but GREAT times… join the DJs with some of your signature dance moves as they clear the floor and pump up them beats. 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge

SATURDAY
Ayaschool plays the most eclectic jazz sets ranging from experimental to some wicked bossa nova. The gang and Aya are tremendously, unapologetically unpretentious, funky, fun nights. 9:30pm onwards @ CAFE (1st Flr)

Good Hands with Good TimesIt’s THE night with Good Times giving you their best, not pulling their punches with the presence of a STELLAR CREW! We invite you to our blow out party with the brightest DJs and musicians on our tiny island, who take us dancing and partying and be merry. GOOD TIMES NYE @ Blu Jaz will be a feast of great music, great fun, great people in a great venue. It’s almost like a house party, but better! We’re pulling out all the stops for this New Years. We’re doing one better than last year, by calling back our favourite DJs and bands over the past year, and inviting fresh exciting ones especially for our celebration.

TUESDAY
For some mellow sounds and a smooth glass of Suntory, head on up to SPACE with Charles and the Suitcase. Visiting home from Australia, this band will be giving us a new sound. 8:30pm onwards

WEDNESDAY
If you’re feeling like some ska and rocksteady, the origins of Reggae, head on up to Lounge where DJ Divine gives you some tunes to bob along too. 9pm onwards

THURSDAY
Our doors are opened as usual for business and our staff will be here to greet you with smiles if you’re not spending the day at home. Join us for an intimate evening of good food and drinks @ Lounge or Space but the Jitterbugs Lindy Hoppers will be throwing a 1930s style Christmas Party, complete with outfits. It’s getting close to that time of year – you see it all over Orchard Road – the blinky lights celebrating the birth of Christ and, maybe, for the un-religious – a time to count our blessings – of family and friends – keeping it real. No matter how you choose to celebrate (or not) – there is no judgment. We’re just here, with open doors, a few more glasses of yummy beverages and scrumptious dishes….

WEDNESDAY
Grooveworks show their faces for the last time this year so bring down some gingerbread cookies and share them with these talented and dedicated musicians! Greg leads them with plenty of jazz aplomb, throwing in spirit, music, rhythm left right and center. 9pm onwards @ Cafe

Still not budging from that mental beach chair? DJ Divine spins a mean Reggae set on Wednesdays @ Lounge and he beckons all to the couch, head a-nodding and feet a-tapping. 9pm onwards.

THURSDAY
East Coast, West Coast, doesn’t matter what coast cos here in the corner fo Bali lane, we’re giving you the works – Swing Fling, complete with dance enthusiasts, DJ, costumes… if you’re shy, come on down to look for SING and she’ll be pleased to give you a pointer or two. Jitterbugs Swingapore is gearing up for the Christmas Swing on the 24th and we’re pleased to inform that it’s open doors to all. MONDAY

A huge, giant, big and all other synomyms you can think, group is back. Yes, this IS the first Monday of the month and Omniform rides the chilled waves @ Cafe. From 9pm onwards, you can find people of talent, passion and luurrrvvee for Jazz playing their fingers and hearts out.

Fibelis launches an EP. That’s right – we have an instrumental trio who creates new waves of funk, pop and jazz and walks the walk of creativity TONIGHT with their launch. Originally from LaSalle, they originally covered tunes like Room 335, L.O.V.E and Let’s Get It On…. catch them live tonight from 8pm @ Space onwards – NO COVER CHARGE! YAY!

TUESDAY

All the way from France, we present to you acoustic night with David Lin – yes originally from Taiwan but hey, the boy has it down low in Paris – ze city of rrrrromance and is back in Singapore to woo the .. well, the audience with his cover versions. Expect improv and, of course, talent. 8:30pm onwards @ Cafe.
WEDNESDAY

Let’s roll with them – Grooveworks that is – the 2nd last week of their amazing gig @ Blu Jaz.. take a listen, if you haven’t already or just cos you wanna show them the LURVE…. 9pm onwards @ Cafe

Let’s welcome ” Where Was Charlie” this Friday- I would like to say it’s his debut but it’s not, so I can’t. Touring a bit and after a 2 yrs absence, he drops by not-so-sunny Singapore with his smooth grooves. Join him and his band of merry making friends for a new take on the ears. The Music Awareness Society is offering FREE music workshops from 12pm – 6pm @ Space. Organised by the Music Lab, they believe that music shouldn’t be deterred by moolah.. so this is an outreach program for those who are curious and strapped for cash. It’s a good thing,  drop on by – no fees – but hey buy the nice teachers a drink, or two.

David Lin returns the week for some acoustic sets from 7pm before AYASCHOOL slides in with some funky tunes.. Expect crazy energy as always and of course, mind blowing music. 9:30pm onwars @ Cafe

A big howdy doody on this overcast Monday! If your glass is half full, you’d (as I am) be grateful for a chance to be decked up in those autumn and winter wear! A big thanks to Etracx and Trance Republic for some great tracks – with thanks to DJ Forno all the way from KL!  This week, we have artistes who will light up Blu Jaz with a bang, a boom and then some.

WEDNESDAY
Chill with Grooveworks @ Cafe with a glass or two of our special cocktails mixed up from our bar…  The musicians serve us cool sax and intricate rhythms from 9pm onwards.

THURSDAY
Bringing out Ella, Duke, Elliot… the big bands and the glamour of the 30s, it’s Swing Thursday! Jitterbugs Dance School and Blu Jaz presents Lindy Hop night where the dancing shoes are suddenly in abundant – if you’re shy, just approach Sing for that complimentary lesson! She is usually by the DJ conosle. 8pm onwards @ Cafe

FRIDAY
We have some very sexy sounds this Friday with Greg on sax, Rachma on keys, Willy on Bass and Darren Moore on drums – this is a stellar crew with gifts of magical sounds to give. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe

It’s a busy night as NUS celebrates the end of their exams with us. From 6:30pm Quasimodo and Like a Band hold court for dinner sessions@ Cafe

And some R&B with jazz mix are in the menu order after 9:30pm @ Cafe. With Fendi on vox, Munir on guitar, Willy on bass and Floods on drums – it’s going to be some sweet sweet sounds.

Synq Crew takes on the decks @ Lounge from 9pm onwards and will deliver right to your feet some wicked electro mixes.

It almost feels like we have autumn in Singapore and it makes al fresco dining a lot more reasonable… One of my favorite months in Singapore, this is the weekend we choose to celebrate with the first ever Trance Party @ Blu Jaz! So read on!

TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY
Grooveworks I and II entertain all with their very own brand of jazz with Tuesday on the 3rd Flr @ Space from 9pm onwards and Wednesday on the 1st Flr @ Cafe from 9pm onwards.

DJ Divine rolls in with his very own mixes of Reggae and bring some tropical to this month’s chill @ Lounge from 9pm onwards

THURSDAY
And if you’ve ever felt like trying out Lindy Hop, this is a perfect chance with complimentary class from 8pm onwards by Jitterbugs Dance School while the rest of them put on them swingin’ shoes and just jam away with Sing on the decks, blasting 1930s tunes.

FRIDAY

44 Beatz is throwing a party and that means you! Having fallen off various bandwagons we thought we’d hitch a ride on the Halloween stage coach. Excuse the cheap mask and puerile green fonts all over the flyer. Pumpkins make good soup. There are no such things as ghosts, you live you die. Thats it. Don’t fear fictitious entities.

Trust in science, science can make you happy. Good music induces a feeling of well being. Believe the men in white coats.

Music Transcends Boundaries – A SMU effort to raise funds for Operation Smile. 7pm – 10pm

Project Cleft is a not-for-profit student-initiated project, led by an independent team of Singapore Management University SMU) Undergraduates, which aims to bring awareness and attention to the plight of children with facial deformities, namely those who suffer from the Cleft Lip/Palates medical condition.

Our objectives are to promote student development through the Malay arts and raise publicity for our beneficiary, Operation Smile, through the sale and promotion of a new and exclusive Malay song album.
