EGADS! One must admit one’s age when one has let go an entire 4 days before an update! However, all is not lost and it’s the end of the month! A very exciting time indeed, we get paid (right, boss?) we unwind ( a lot ), Pushin’ On is playing tonight – an insane set of funk, soul, going wild @ Lounge from 9:30pm onwards. And if we’re not feeling all that untamed but love the good vibes and notes coursing through our bloodstream, hang out with Greg Lyons’ Quartet from 9:30pm @ Cafe.

And if a nutty Friday enough, carry on with Ayaschool on Saturday with more than good vibrations – a congregation of the most talented, sweetest, passionate music makers in town – the conclave is CAFE and they kick off from 9:30pm

It’s a cool week and we bring you programs just as cool – starting with Blink-Bl_nk – an engaging session of talks and discussion on WEDNESDAY from 7pm @ Space. This week hits close to the heart with – The Future of Singapore Hawker Centres by Elizabeth Bennett, find ways to improve your life with Carl Coryell-Martin: Building a Life: Lean Manufacturing and Agile Development Applied to Everyday Living and join us for the implication on privacy with the effects of cybernetics and memory: The Price of Perfect Memory. And if chillin’ is your thing, DJ Divine is our residential Reggae master serving up mixes of tropics and breeze @ Lounge from 9pm onwards.

And to rev it up, Mohd Noor still holds court @ Cafe on FRIDAY from 9:30pm with stunning music-try and infectious beats. Head on up to SPACE from 9pm onwards for Twilight over Tokyo for some indie flava.

Cool man on bass – Willy – leads the merry music maker on SATURDAY @ Cafe – for jazz with just a touch of funk and soul. 9:30pm onwards.

We won’t blame you if you’re feeling that mellow mood and we invite you to chill out with us tonight over some soothing jazz sounds. Grooveworks @ Cafe from 9pm onwards serenade us over a glass or two.

Grooveworks II revs it up just a notch on WEDNESDAY @ Cafe from 9pm onwards with some uptempo jazz. And if reggae has your name on it, DJ Divine spins a pretty mean set up @ Lounge. 9pm onwards. If you’d like to test your funny bone, join us for open mic night @ space from 7:30p onwards

Twas a lovely night when music broke asunder from the 13 man group – OMNIFORM - a first Monday of the month occurrence. And tonight if you missed some soul, join Grooveworks while they jam out @ Cafe from 8:30pm onwards

And if you head on up to Lounge – we have Twilight over Tokyo – a contemplative evening with these 4 bands: Zhi Wei and Friends, Kiseki, Pillowphilia and Seventh Nite from 8pm onwards. Feeling under-appreciated? Blu Jaz presents open mic night – Stand Up for Singapore, join us @ Space from 8:30pm onwards

HAPPY SHORT WEEK! Well, applicable to those within four walls from 9 – 6 but we are here for you. We are OPENED as usual so drop by, unwind… and maybe get happy.

This THURSDAY is the final of our inaugural AYASCHOOL BEEBOP night. Be there for it would be a loss not to have experienced a night of greatness of great jazz from 9pm onwards. And once again, Swing Fling is onnnnnn, boogie on up to Lounge for a taste of Lindy Hop where dancers go wild for the night. 8pm onwards

WooYeah – it’s a Labour Day Weekend and still we’ll be labouring for your enjoyment and sanity. We are OPEN on 1st May so don’t be coy and do come out to play. And if rain isn’t your cup of tea, our three story boho-chic shelter offers a nice reprieve (or even as a 2nd home!)

TUESDAY

It’s the showcase of Junior Grooveworks where kids do their thing and belt out jazz tunes. 9pm onwards @ Space

WEDNESDAY

It’s BLINK BL-NK this night @ Space -  where regular people share their expertise about fascinating subjects in a social environment. The events are built around 15 – 20 minute talks on subjects ranging from cutting-edge issues in technology and business to quirky histories, weird science and enriching cultural experiences. Speakers may be leading experts, distinguished hobbyists or simply great story tellers. Interludes between talks are spiced up by carefully curated musical selections.  7pm onwards @ SPACE

And if you’re craving for a night to a different beat, our regular DJ Divine spins out great chillax sounds from the Caribbean island. Lounge out from 9pm onwards!

But if jazz is still your cup of tea, Grooveworks final showcase for the semester happens this Wednesday. Expect the 8 member band to whip up cool compositions and charm your feet onto the dance floor. 9pm onwards@ Cafe

THURSDAY

Jump, hop, lift – it’s Swing Fling again this Thursday. There isn’t need to wax lyrical because the music will be great and dancers friendly. Call on Sing or Brian for a complimentary demo if you’re new to the scene. 8:30pm onwards @ Cafe

FRIDAY

It’s double billing for Aya and her visiting friends from the Land of the Rising Sun bring along their take on jazz. Irashimase! So come on down for a rare treat. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe.

TIS the last Friday of the month, so without doubt, hesitation or vacillation, Pushin’ON electrifies all beings @ Lounge. They churn out your soul, funk with a dash of house and beats. 9:30pm onwards. It’s going to be packed, so keep your outfit comfy and your toes on dance mode.

SATURDAY

For a different sound that is still totally Aya but completely fresh, it’d be a night of improvisation with some classics and crazy sets. So join us, for a celebration – of life. 9:30pm onwards

One hopes that the weekend provided sufficient fun and rest and while the rest of us drones head on back to the 4 walls where our income is generated, our friends are certainly planning a swish, a swoosh and a bang for us this week @ cafe. While we do not have any programs planned for the public today and tomorrow, you’re more than welcome to drop by for an unwinding session with our mojito or a chat with our colleagues working the tables. And then, there is the rest of the week:

WEDNESDAY
It’s a full house this mid-week where you can choose to hang with Grooveworks @ Cafe from 9pm onwards for some seriously fun jazz OR head on up to Lounge with Matrix Jam if you’re a musician. Jam session is opened to all jazz loving players (or vocalist) but of course, be polite, give a shout out to George – our organiser for the night. 8:30pm onwards. But if you’re feeling chilled without them rhythm and blues vibe, go right up to SPACE to greet DJ Divine and his lovely REGGAE sets. 9pm onwards.


THURSDAY
It’s another SWING FLING @ Cafe with the crrrraaazzzyyyy Lindy Hop dancers from Jitterbugs. No, tis not a performance but a chance for you to join in this delightful fray. Never mind, if you can’t dance – you just have to ask Sing or Brian for a complimentary demo, make some friends and you can groove those feet along for the night. 8:30pm onwards

FRIDAY
Step into cafe this Friday with Greg Lyons’ Quartet on stage with some cool sounds. One of our resident jazz band and they be one of them best. You’d be wanting one of them martinis too…. any which way you like them. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe

Head on to Space if you’re feeling some independent spirit because we have Closeapart and Indus Gendi in the house with their own brand of music. Two Bands. No Door Charge. Open your mind a little. 9pm onwards @ Space

SATURDAY
WOOT! Ayaschool is back – rested, rejuvenated and I’m sure some wild mixes up their sleeves. This time, DON’T sit down, but dance off instead from the good vibes coming through. The adjective – great – right before music is understood. Completely. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe

For those who are craving for some exciting electronic sounds, COUP delivers with a wide array of EDM leaning towards the deep and edgy side of things. It’s a bit of everything with elements of deep house, minimal, progressive, trance, tech house, techno, drum and bass and dubstep. 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge.
