It’s a brand new week and Singapore has just turned up the heat – we recommend beach wear under our shady outdoor area with a glass of ice-blend – whatever-you-choose!

Wednesday sees Ed Layman’s Jam Revival@Cafe – 8:30pm onwards and all are welcome. Leave the earplugs at home ‘cos it’s nothing but music to your ears!

Once again – it’s Poetry Slam Thursday and for lovers of the written word (and the sound of their own voice) drop by  or rather go on up to SPACE. From 8pm onwards – free for all and  – hosted by the very lovely Arianna – we guarantee a stimulating time. (leave the eggs at home, yeah?)

We’re going to melt-not from heat- but the velvety notes of FENDI - making a 3 set appearance this FRIDAY, he brings soul to a new level. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. Pushin’ On presents T Dot to the Little Red @ Lounge and Space cos it’s the last Friday and PAYDAY! Join them and 2 guests from Toronto. Masia One and Deejay L’Oqenz headline this month’s Pushin’On with a 2-hour set of hip-hop, soul, jazz and dancehall. Masia One will kick off with a ‘live’ set of beats and rhymes, including tracks off her latest album, Pulau. Deejay L’Oquenz then takes over the decks and brings a little bit of T Dot flavour to the dancefloor. It’s official – it’s a party!

Come SATURDAY - we see AYASCHOOL - with our lovely Aya and her fantastic mix of music, passion and soul. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe – expect greatness. Should you be tempted to walk on the road less traveled, head on up to SPACE from 9pm onwards where our THAI friends will be playing a mix of popular THAI hits and tunes from the American pop chart.

And just a short blast on behalf of our sista restaurant: Piedra Negra – it’s the live mural set by Didier – Mexican Art live – this SATURDAY - CHECK IT OUT!

WE ARE CLOSED ON VESAK DAY! (17th May)!

Alrightie, laddies… it’s going to seem like a short week cos we be working for a day before we can snooze in till midday tomorrow! So come on down to Blu Jaz for some great home cookin’ or some yummy Sangria @ Piedra Negra this evening!

And when we open our doors on Wednesday, we have Eddy Inuendo Jam Session @ Cafe – 9pm onwards – so join in the musical mayhem and jam along with us!

If you want some rhythms and have always wanna drum out your feelings – here is your chance. We have a DJEMBE open mic night on THURSDAY - 8:30pm onwards @ SPACE

On FRIDAY, we are pleased as punch to have GOOD TIMES take over all 3 floors of Blu Jaz! It’s their 3rd Anniversary and loads of somethings special are coming this way! DJs and bands – performing never heard before collaborations all geared towards one common mission.. Good Times! And there is no warm up, we start with SIXX kicking things off proper at 9pm sharp! To commemorate our Good Times’ 3rd Anniversary, we’re keeping our doors swung open and the event is completely free to attend And to thank all supporters and new found friends, Good Times is giving away amazing stuff, with over S$3500 worth of apparel, custom merchandise, art pieces, store vouchers and champagne by proud sponsors OBEY, Carhartt, Blackmarket, Know It Nothing, SBTG, CindyKate, Sup, Headline, Syndicate, Dulcetfig, and even from Bedsty! On SATURDAY - Wen and his friends take spotlight – giving you very classy jazz sets with just the right touch of spunk. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe – it’s live music which we love. And @ Lounge, CHROAM presents.. CUE: The Music – an eclectic mix of urban sounds. This is the fifth installment of this urban music night where the CHROAM boys draw on their experience of the London club scene to serve up an eclectic mix of sounds from the 70’s through to the here and now. Rare grooves, Funk, UK garage, deep soulful house, Hip/Hop – you’ll find it all at this ‘house’ party. 9pm onwards. Up at SPACE, we have Kamal’s band – belting out some indie tunes and mainstream mixes – a little more analog and equally pleasing to your ears. 9:30pm onwards!

Now that elections excitement has died down, we return to regular progamming: It’s the first MONDAY of the month, so…. we have very talented musicians banding together to give you original compositions! We’re presenting, none other than … OMNIFORM! 9pm onwards @ Cafe

And if you’re craving for a little funk early on in the week – we have just the right group for you. ‘O Funk plays @ Space on TUESDAY from 8:30pm onwards – just what the doctor ordered -play that funky music,…er  non-white boys…

And the Eddy Inuendo Jam Session is baaacckkk… featuring, well, Eddy on drums – the rest of them are youse and youse! Bring your instruments, bring your voice or just bring yourself to appreciate music in the making. 8:30pm on WEDNESDAY @ Cafe. And if you’re bursting to perform -here is another outlet – it’s STAND UP FOR SINGAPORE - an open mic night. Entry at SGD 10 per person and thick skin. Go on, give it a whirl, head on up to SPACE from 8pm onwards.

Bani Haykal has an itch and we’re happy to help him scratch it. Bani is  presenting new materials (guitar along with other woodwind instruments like Clarinet, Xaphoon) and have interaction with listeners about music and the performance’s philosophy  on THURSDAY from 8:30pm onwards @ Space

On FRIDAY - we have Jeremy Tordjman’s band @ Cafe from 9:30pm onwards! A different approach from what would be considered: traditional, he jams out something that he prefers to call “Fuzzy Jazz Groove†instead of fusion music. That is what you get with this Hot Spicy band. Neat harmonies, very worked themes, there are all the ingredients of a refreshing new project, made with the involvement of musicians that followed his trip and his idea of music. A show of a great class, a flawless quality and a freshness which reminds you that music can be simply a timeless moment to share. We have JEREMY TORDJMAN : Electric Guitar, GREG LYONS : Sax. DARREN MOORE : Drums. HIROAKI MAEKAWA : Bass!

Just cos our sister restaurant’s webby isn’t up yet – we have LATIN SOUNDCLASH this Friday (2nd Flr, 9:30pm onwards!) PIEDRA NEGRA.

STRETCH It IS a short work week – even for us and we welcome the reprieve like thirsted man to water. What’s happening this week? Well TONIGHT - we have Eddy leading a jam session @ Cafe from 8:30pm onwards – even if you’re not going to jump on stage, hang back and let them musicians entertain.

Our Deep House DJ, M. Simon, is back – with more sexy grooves to tide THURSDAY over to the weekend. 9pm onwards @ Lounge. Find a corner, go ahead – lounge.

We’ve got a new group to croon out those jazzy tunes – The Take Off Cafe – Smooth and chilled – 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe on FRIDAY . May also marks the 3rd Anniversary of GOOD TIMES and this makes for a damn good excuse for us to hold a bigger, badder party. They’ve brought back three of their fave selectors from Singapore and beyond. Topping the bill, we’ve got Darren Dubwise from Syndicate crew. Expect lots of BASS. In support, we’ve got Andrew M from Aussieland dropping some quality Hip-Hop. His crate runs deep, so expect a healthy mix of old school and new school beats. We’ve also got Presha from Meshradio laying down a selection of deep vibes and broken rhythms. 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge. And if you’re feeling a little more electronic sounds – SYNQ Collective hosts their DJs @ Space from 9:30pm onwards.

And it’s the FIRST Ayaschool, well, since Aya has gotten back from her music journey 9:30pm onwards on SATURDAY @ Cafe – Maya features on vox, Tony Mac on Bass, Darren Moore on Drums and special guests: Nikki on sax. Alternate between jazz and the our Reggae cohorts @ Lounge. If you need to chill to a different beat – live bands and DJs

It’s a little hard to remain apathetic when the air is filled with a certain sort of buzz and the general elections, this year, seem to evoke more ambivalent sentiments than before….. at least that is what the coffee shop uncle says…. be it the polls or an epiphany on your rest of your life, we offer you space for that philosophical discussion among friends.

But if you’re hankering for a little music – we start mid week (WEDNESDAY) with Matrix Jam @ Lounge – bring your instruments down and I guess the only rule is keep up with the rest of the musicians – and yes, your vocals IS your instrument too… look for George from 8:30pm onwards

From notes to words – we bring you POETRY SLAM @ SPACE on THURSDAY - join our budding and aspiring poets – from solemn to quirky, from passionate to the darker realm, speak. We give you the stage. From 8pm onwards

And then it’s the weekend – we bring you some great blues from FunkyMunkees on FRIDAY - the young band with experienced sounds – close your eyes and dream of trip along the Mississippi – Tom Sawyer-like. 9:30pm @ Cafe. But if it’s a party you’re craving for, Pushin’On is going to bring it – featuring Brandon P, Masterpiece and the Mighty Mighty – right along with resident DJs Shellsuit, Chunk, Dave Code and Gonzo covering dance music in funk, soul, hip-hop, disco, boogie, swing, jazz, latin, reggae, rockabilly and afrobeat. 9:30pm @ Lounge.

On SATURDAY, we bring you some cool sounds with IRESON - a trio who boasts some of the best latin-jazz mixes you’ll get to hear around town. 9:30pm @ Cafe. The party continues with 44 Beatz @ Lounge from 9:30pm onwards with some great Techhouse and Electro – it’s Soundscapes with great sounds and the catalyst to your dancing from night till dawn.

And we’ll give a shout out for our sister at PIEDRA NEGRA with Passion(sensation – also residing temporary on the 2nd flr of Piedra on Saturday. And TRANCE is the main course on the menu that night.

It’s a rainy Monday morning and all we want to do is curl back into bed and hit the snooze a couple more times. A couple of million more times. Alas, it is not meant to be but the perks of living in a city is the great taste of coffee just round the corner! We welcome you to hang out with us to chase away them Monday’s blues….

On THURSDAY we are calling all hand drummers and percussionists out there to jam with LILA DRUMS @ SPACE from 9pm onwards!  Look forward to the Free Jam, Beginners Jam, and Performance Jam at Blu Jaz SPACE! Players, bring your djembe or any percussion instruments you want to jam with – don’t leave them home alone! Come experience a melting pot of drumming passion!

It’s the cool and sexy FLOODS and gang bringing their hot, jazzy sounds to Blu Jaz Cafe this FRIDAY. From 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe, join us for great sounds – with maybe just a tad bit of tribal fused into it. And if you’re feeling thoroughly electronic – head on up to LOUNGE from 9pm onwards for INDOLAND - a twist (and maybe a skip and a hop, too) to electronic beats.

Fuze Collective takes the stage on SATURDAY and it’s Fendi soothing, intoxicating voice that draws us ever closer to some great sexy, sultry moves. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe – it’s a date for some body grooving.

A while back, we had the pleasure of Trent Williams dropping by our cafe to play for a night… he has a new video series – Park Bench Series – go on, have a look… lovely introspective inspiring piece just to accompany you during the day.

We start mid-week, this time round, with exercising our funny bone. It’s Stand Up for Singapore Comedy night again! YAY - Jon Atheron plays hosts and welcomes you, at least initially, to try your hand on stage and depending on your material, you may just survive your 5 minutes of fame and audiences will be clamoring for more! SGD 10 entry. 8pm @ Space on WEDNESDAY!

FRIDAY comes around before you know it and it’s Noor and gang @ Cafe from 9:30pm onwards, wooing you with nothing more or less than great music and passion. Head on up to Lounge to Turn Up the Heat (as if Singapore’s weather isn’t hot enough!) for some great DJ music – ranging from a little bit of progressive house to some great Latin fused beats. 9:30pm onwards.

It’s going to be a totally awesome Saturday as well with Vanessa Fernandez headlining our jazz group @ Cafe. With her hip hop and soul background, that something special and funky will surely come through and get you dancing! Up at LOUNGE, we present CHROAM -  CU3: The Music – an eclectic mix of urban sounds in chilled house party style atmosphere. CU3: The Music is the third installment of this urban music night. The CHROAM boys draw from an eclectic bag of grooves from the 70′s through to the here and now. Rare grooves, Funk, UK garage, deep soulful house, Hip/Hop you’ll find it at all CU3. It is about the people and the music …just bring your groove, an open mind and be prepared to move. We are bringing the house party to you!!!

Mosey – the word brings about a feeling of idyllic times – so we invite you to mosey on down to Blu Jaz/Muzium/Piedra Negra. For those who haven’t heard, we’ve got a variety of cuisine for you – from our local delights to the western platters, your options are found in the Blu Jaz kitchen. Or drop by Muzium for the neighborhood Middle Eastern fare but walk on down Haji Lane to Piedra Negra for the most tasty Mexican dishes you can find in town. Really.

This week, we’re hosting a Poetry Slam night @ Space on THURSDAY - you know the drill – sign up, go up, phrases soothing to the ears or fire up the soul – your choice. Your word. 8pm onwards

Payday! Come celebrate with our boys from Good Times as 1st April lands on the first Friday of the month. And no, we ain’t foolin’ – it’s breaks, hip hop, house and great tunes to move that body… pop it, lock it, break it… any which way you please. 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge. And we do a little swaparoo with Aya taking our center stage on Friday @ Cafe. She is going to blow us away with great music. 9:30pm onwards.

We have a special project on SATURDAY with The Special Project Band – tada! Alright, taking away the corn, Pablo and gang will be sure to deliver some hot havana night vibes – fused with cool jazz right before things heat up. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe.

It’s a little dated but THANK YOU EVERYONE who came down to Gambatte! Fight for Japan – thanks to all the artistes who contributed their craft, time and love – thank you for everyone who donated to the cause – if you haven’t heard – we raised SGD 76,000!!!!!!!!!!!! So, yeah – thank you!

And so it is, we drift towards the end of March but our programs certainly doesn’t simulate the lazy weather… it’s Djembe Open Mic Jam this THURSDAY with Lila Drums! Calling all hand drummers and percussionists out there to jam this Thursday night! Look forward to the Free Jam, Beginners Jam, and Performance Jam at Blu Jaz Cafe! Players, bring your djembe or any percussion instruments you want to jam with – don’t leave them home alone!  Come experience a melting pot of drumming passion – 8:30pm – 10:30pm @ Cafe.

It’s SoulFunkHipHopJungleJam with AYA this FRIDAY! lalalallalalalalaal – or rather boom boom boom…. featuring DJ KoFlow on decks, Willy on bass, Muhd Noor on drums and Rapper Blaze to bring the word… and if you get the push to share – come on down. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe. Upstairs @ Lounge AND Space – we present – drum roll please – Pushin’On! Funk and hip-hop are inseparable. And when you get a chance to have them both in one place on one night, you take it. Duels Official
Duels Official is Singapore’s answer to rap battle leagues such as Grindtimenow, King of the Dot and Don’t Flop. Hisham The Mc, Enero and Rapscallion took inspiration from these movements and championed a rap battle league to draw attention to the skills of Singapore rappers and a rap battle as dynamic entertainment. Do not miss this set in a collaboration with DJ Shellsuit.

Masterpiece & the Mighty Mighty
“Live” funk resumes at Pushin’On with Masterpiece & the Mighty Mighty. From their debut in 2008 as the Lion City Orchestra, the Mighty Mighty is now the house band of Pushin’On. After a blistering set at the Pushin’On Anniversary, the Mighty Mighty returns with more rare music from Dyke and the Blazers and Wilson Pickett. Come and dance with the Mighty Mighty in a viciously funky 1-hour set with;

A regular flea market enthusiast in every country he calls home, he looks for rare music, unknown films, discarded photos or abandoned furniture, and tries to transform them into something appealing. And we party on, on SATURDAY  – with our regular AYASCHOOL @ Cafe from 9:30pm onwards and you are going to luuurrrvveee this one… it’s the indomitable voice of Dawn Ho, Mario Lopez on bass and MohdNoor on drums… I sense some Latin fusion coming up…. And time to switch from soul to some digital sounds while 44 Beatz play host @ Lounge with House:: Dub:: Garage:: Hip Hop:: Other Prime Cuts. It’s a special edition of Soundscapes from 9:30pm onwards! New names, new riddims – same great party. With the rest of the Soundscapes regulars out of town, join us for a one-off special edition knees-up with a couple of fantastic guest DJs. Joining Soundscapes residents  are two of Singapore’s more colourful DJ characters – Uncle Johnny and Woogieboogie – who will add some cosmic, house and old-school hip hop vibes to the tried and tested Soundscapes formula. We’re all disheartened by the disasters that have struck Japan and our friends have decided to host a charity function this THURSDAY (17th March) @ Blu Jaz and we hope you can make it.

A donation event named “Gambatte! Japan from Singapore” will see the funds go to the victims in Japan. This is organised by Vivid Creations, …Wakyo-Kai Singapore and Ayaschool. The charity partner is  Mercy Relief, supported by Media: COMM Pte Ltd. It’ll be 3 floors of creative activities including all kinds of music and dance. This is what life is all about – it still goes on, regardless of tragedies and we would like to think that our spirits keep fighting and strive for survival.

1st floor : Jungle Jam for Japan (person in charge : Aya Sekine)
2nd floor DJs jam (person in charge : Kentaro Taniguchi)
3rd Floor : Dancers jam! (person in charge : Kyoko)

Loads of participants will be coming down to share so please drop by and make your donation to the people of Japan.

It’s back to our regular great program thereafter. Greg Lyons grace our stage once again on FRIDAY - from 9:30pm @ Cafe – he and his friends will bring about fantastic jazz tunes. And if you head on up to Lounge – we have DJs AND live bands – presenting INDOLAND - a night of rock with the influence of south east asia. 9:30pm onwards

SATURDAY means that it’s time for AYASCHOOL and this week we have the cunningly, smooth voice of Richard Jackson, the talented Mr Casey on bass, G-man – coolness – on drums and of course the wonderful Aya Sekine on keys. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe – her sets are never to be missed.
