Well – we have some talented musicians from our neighbours: Srey Channthy and Julien Poulson aka the Monkey & the Mermaid, vocals and guitar for THE CAMBODIAN SPACE PROJECT are stopping in Singapore for one night only. They will be playing an acoustic set from The Cambodian Space Project ALBUM at BluJaz Space – from 8pm onwards. What some people say about them:

“A rousing, quirky reminder of the pre-Khmer Rouge golden era of Cambodian pop.” – THE GUARDIAN

“Tracks like “Chnam Oun Dop Pram Mouy” are just begging to be used to soundtrack the next Tarantino movie” – UNCUT ***

And of course we have Omniform @ Cafe with their awesome originally scored music. With Greg Lyons leading, the Monday night will hold no blues. 9pm onwards

George comes back on with MATRIX JAM on WEDNESDAY - head up to Lounge if you wanna be part of a host of talents with a jazz jam. 8:30pm onwards.

Tonight (WEDNESDAY) we have Matrix Jam, hosted by George – which means all aspiring or professional musicians – head on up to Lounge from 8:30pm onwards and play your hearts out. A jammin’ session for musicians by musicians. And if you have a different sort of talent to unleash to our enthusiastic crowd – it’s open mic up @ Space from 8:30pm – try finding that tickle bone and see if you’ve got it.

Simon is back this month with his deep house mixes – sexy and tribal – join him @ Lounge on THURSDAY from 9pm onwards.

It’s the sexy chic Nikki D on sax – along with her friends so you’ll be getting a great night of Jazz on FRIDAY @ Cafe. Drop by from 9:30pm onwards to catch them or come even earlier for some yummy eats. Mosey along up to Lounge with Substance hosting – DJs spin minimal sounds to trance to techno to get you that high. 9:30pm onwards

And even though Aya is on a musical journey, we are terribly excited to have the Wicked boys this SATURDAY. It’s Wicked Aura Batucada, my friends and they WILL bring the house down. Join us from 9:30pm @ Cafe if not, you’ll be kicking yourself all the way till next year. Run up for some chilled vibes with the DJs doing a reggae night – so groove between the addictive Jamaican beats @ Lounge from 9:30pm and the infectious Brazilian rhythms!

2009

January 1, 2009

Good food and music continues to 2009 with Monster Trio still taking helm tonight on Friday @ Cafe from 9:30pm onwards. With Greg out of town, Fandi comes in with beautiful vocals.

Saturday night usually belongs to Aya Sekine but for one night only Wicked Aura and friends will take the stage. Regular Aya School “students” Budi and Aidan will be in attendance.
As it is the tradition at Blu Jaz this one’s all about taking the music into a percussive funk samba jam, so expect some serious musical exploration.

Peace and Love
