Drummin’ Good Times
September 3, 2008
So for all those who like drum and bass but of the separate types, Lila Drums are back tonight (thurs) at Blu Jaz Cafe at 8:30pm. Djembe groovin’ for 2 sets with the 2nd set at 9:30pm.
“Good Times*” is a unique event where everybody is invited to let their guard down, shimmy on to good old school tunes, funky breaks, and boogie into the night as we up the tempo and pace.
“Good Times” is all for a night out with your best mates, filled with stupid incidents and crazy antics. We invite you to rock up to a night where you are the master of the dance floor.
We’ll clear space for you to bust your signature moves.
The night will feature old school hiphop, breakbeats, electro, dubstep, dnb and jungle provided by your favorite DJs…

Our Monster Trio takes stage on Friday as usual from 9:30pm onwards. We tend to get filled up on Fridays so if you want a table, do call to reserve. There IS a difference between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Floor, so DO specify, leave your name and number. It’s a casual kinda of place so do be patient with us. Order a drink from the bar to chill out to Greg’s jazz on the first floor.
Aya’s special guests from Wicked Aura are in for the month of August – featuring 3 members of Wicked Aura, singing the blues, the bee-bops, the do-wops – 2 more sessions with Wicked Aya come down on Saturday before 9pm to get seats.
A Sawadeeka Experience
August 11, 2008
It was on our National Day that our regular Thai customers decided that they should celebrate the school of rock – thai style. They formed a band, impromptu and held a mini-jam session at Blu Jaz Lounge, which turned it to a pretty vibrant scene on the 2nd Floor. We’ve never had a Thai Rock Out before so thank you for the intriguing experience.
Meanwhile, sandwiching the Sawadeeka Band were Aya and our 3 boys from Wicked Aura on the 1st Floor with Budi on vocals belting out blues and jazz renditions and a belly dance party turned retro then hip hop on the 3rd Floor. I suppose you may be thinking what the *$%F? But you know, at Blu Jaz, we’re all about the fun – no pretensions. The last set saw Budi singing Billi Jean acappella style while Aya took a toilette break to the delight and amazement of the audience (including myself), while our DJ at our August Hafla @ Space switched from belly dance music to Bailamos and then to Joan Jet’s I Hate Myself for Loving You with performers in belly dancing costumes rocking out side by side with our regular Jane and Joe Doe.
No regrets. Play hard. See you guys soon.
The Voice.

UPDATE! Leading up to the parade, we have Djembe Groove for those who wanna make some noise. Join Lila Drums at the Cafe on the 1st Floor this Thurs, 7th Aug from 8pm onwards. Bring hands.
A little little something for the after parade or the restless souls who didn’t leave the shores – we present to you the August Halfa – theme: Fire Fire, Burning Bright – yet another series of belly dancers getogether for a night out with special performance by Angelina. This all occurs, of course, on the 9th August at Blu Jaz Space, day after Greg’s Monster Trio hit their beats on Friday, 8th August.
