Jazz colonies is a monthly original jazz night held on the third monday of every month @ SPACE. Three groups per night will present their artistic visions. We are really honoured to host the closing of CHOPPA Festival! CHOPPA FESTIVAL 2010 celebrates 3 years as Singapore’s longest running experimental music institution! It almost feels like we have autumn in Singapore and it makes al fresco dining a lot more reasonable… One of my favorite months in Singapore, this is the weekend we choose to celebrate with the first ever Trance Party @ Blu Jaz! So read on!
TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY
Grooveworks I and II entertain all with their very own brand of jazz with Tuesday on the 3rd Flr @ Space from 9pm onwards and Wednesday on the 1st Flr @ Cafe from 9pm onwards.
DJ Divine rolls in with his very own mixes of Reggae and bring some tropical to this month’s chill @ Lounge from 9pm onwards
THURSDAY
And if you’ve ever felt like trying out Lindy Hop, this is a perfect chance with complimentary class from 8pm onwards by Jitterbugs Dance School while the rest of them put on them swingin’ shoes and just jam away with Sing on the decks, blasting 1930s tunes.
FRIDAY
Fuze Collective make their way back this Friday with Muhd Noor on drums and he’ll bring you in, feet a-stompin’ and hips a-swayin’ when they make some noise. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe
Pushin’ On delivers as usual with their very own mix of soul and funk @ Lounge from 9:30pm onwards. This is a party not to be missed as you have none of those pretentious posers on the floor – just some very good vibrations, yo.
SATURDAY
We have some gorgeous people in the house! Ayaschool presents Nicole on sax, Bong on bass, Bobby Singh on drums and Aya on keys – this is the grooviest on a sat night. 9:30pm onwards @ Cafe
This is a night where electronic music fans are in for a treat – where both Lounge AND Space will be spinning the best sounds yet. COUP will be storming the decks at Blu Jaz yet again, the DJs will be dishing out an eclectic range of the darkest, spaciest tunes, from broken beats to house to psytrance to techno. 9:30pm onwards @ Lounge
And now, for the first time in Blu Jaz – we present to you TRAN:CES – a project brought to you by E-Tracx and Trance Republic. Blu Jaz is jumping for joy and for sure with very exciting things happening in May…. so happy that we might just p33 in our pants…..
In chronological order ….
We are starting a SWING FLING! It’s happening every Thurs @ Space (3rd Flr) in May. Partnering up with Jitterbugs Swingapore, there will be a free 45min lindy hop class for newbies from 7:30pm before we start the dance floor for all to jam and show of those rockin’ dance moves. For the FIRST swing fling, Jazz Nuts (18 member band!!) will serenade and inspire us to hop out and venture forth!
